Casting the legacy kids: your picks

Friend of mine and I have been talking about casting (largely for the DAYS fanfic, in my case, AW in his). Specifically casting actors for the legacy characters that have been long-missing from their respective shows, or who have been grossly miscast in recent attempts.

So, having said this, if you had the choice to cast some legacy characters in 2019, or recast some that haven't worked on any show (past or present, since we've been talking AW and all), who would you go with? And hell, what direction would you take them if you did!

An example I've been conemplating:

Michael Roark as Jeremy Horton (DAYS)

He could easily fit right into the Kiriakis business, having been a touch on the shady side back when he was on the show previously, and I could see him with any number of the women in the age range on the show, or hell, even give Kate a boytoy.

Other ideas? Crickets?

Since Carly Schroeder is serving in the army now I wouldn't mind Brooke Newton (Ex Colby) from AMC to inhabit the role of Serena Baldwin on GH

Have her come on to work with her mother Lucy to revitalize Deception Cosmetics and have her fall for Michael. Which itself will cause chaos because of Sonny once sleeping with Serena's sister Karen and feeding her drugs and convincing her to strip on the pole back in the day. Imagine Scotty seeing his daughter getting involved with a Corinthos. And throw in Bobbie for good measure too who could see both factors in this chaos too.

Kelley Missal as Christina Baldwin

If the show actually cared more about their younger generation. I wouldn't mind Christina coming back as a medical intern along with TJ, and a few other recurring twenty somethings as a close-knit group of interns at General  Hospital. I would love one of her first scenes to be her looking at a photo of her biological mother who was a intern at the hospital twenty years ago promising she wouldn't end up like her. Have her be close to Lucy and Kevin too and have her a rocky relationship with her adoptive father Scott too. Perhaps she and Serena could have a somewhat rivalry because of Scotty always "Favoring" his biological daughter over her etc...

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.
    • Mac Scorpio and Kevin Collins, GH

Jon Lindstrom did a zoom event on March 26, 2023 and talked about the  Kevin/Mac drag scenes.  quotes here: https://soaphub.com/general-hospital/news-gh/soap-hub-flashback-friday-jon-lindstrom-reveals-his-gh-drag-secret/

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
