OLTL: Tess' Secret

Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death.

Does anyone know what Tess' secret is, and the reason why she was created? I had assumed that Tess came to be when Jessica was sexually molested, but Tess kinda indicated to Niki that it wasn't that. So then I thought that maybe Jessica saw something traumatic (like observing her mother having sex with other men). But now I'm thinking Jessica was molested--which, while a truly bad thing to occur, is incredibly predictable.

ABC is showing a promo of Viki/Clint watching a tape that *supposedly* reveals what happened to Jessica. The tape shows Jessica sitting on a bed (I think this took place at that AC bar). The way the promo was edited, it appeared that after witnessing the tape, Viki is seen crying and falling to her knees. I had wondered if Niki prostituted Jessica--but Niki appears not to know anything about Tess' abuse. Could it be another alter? What could be so traumatic that would cause Jessica to split if it wasn't sexual abuse? Did Jessica kill someone?

The secret is supposed to be revealed next week, but I'm tired of waiting  Does anyone have the scoop? Or a REALLY good theory?

I have NO idea. I thought the secret was to be revealed in May when Tess/Jess gives birth, but I guess they bumped it up. I think it has something to do with Tess being sexually molested, but it would be obvious with the old clip we've seen over and over with the man holding Jessica's hand and taking her somewhere. I'm interesting to see what it is, and also who's the father. This story is so great, I wish they would just speed it up a little bit.

I've been seeing the same thing happening too. They play up too much how she and Nash don't want the secret found because they don't want Tess gone. Of all the times that I remember Nikki getting involved with another man, the man never stood in the way of Vicki getting better. Of course those were different writers, but I think they are hurting the character of Nash by making him get involved in Tess's schemes to keep the secret hidden. He should want her to be better. I mean this is a mental illness. I think it is just very careless of them to play the story that way.

But on the point I am afraid that we want see Jessica much at all. Already Tess gets more airtime and they never did that with Vicki/Nicki - Vicki was always kept at the forefront of things.

The new medianet pictures show Tess trying to kill Norman. It tooks like a complete replay of when one of Viki's alters smothered Victor with a pillow in his hospital bed. I'd guess Norman is the one who abused Jessica. Problem of course is Niki is also an accomplice by the way they've told the story.

I don't think it's going to be Niki that molested Jessica. Why would Tess be anywhere near her if that were true. It looks like they're moving more towards Jessica being forced to do child pornography. This could explain why Tess doesn't want anyone to know the secret. She doesn't want anyone seeing the video because it's so traumatic. If this were true, I wouldn't be disappointed.

They keep saying this is much worse that what happened to Vicki - at least that was one take on it in an interview with Higley. Even porn I don't see as any worse. After all the hype and the long wait, it has better be so shocking and not some overused plot. I mean the child porn thing was used on Days with Nicole by her step-dad. I want it to really be good and truly shock us since we were told it is supposed to be worse.

I think Jess was part of a child pornography ring and that is what Viki and Clint are going to see on the tape, their daughter being sexually molested and maybe someone taking naked pictures of Jess/Tess. And to have it come full circle I think they need to bring Victor into this history. Okay, he was suppose to be dead but now we know he wasn't (due to the take my grandaughters heart story). Victor being the abuser of Viki and her daugher...

    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
