The right would definitely like to get rid of public service broadcasting if they could, but I think that, at least for now, the support for public service is still strong. I know that our most right-wing party would love nothing better than to close it down, so they frequently attack it and claim it's biased and radical left-wing propaganda. They would just love it if all we got was commercial tv full of reality shows and silly comedies. No critical reporting whatsoever. They just hate being questioned and called out on their rasist and misogynistic policies.

The protests really haven't made any impact so far - even less than I expected, tbh. All we got was Tapper and Dana Bash whining that Joe was on too late. Biden's speech seems very well received by the public, it's the Beltway that was scraping around for anything to work with and so far haven't found much (and have admitted it was a great speech, those who weren't begging him to 'reach out to the center').

Meanwhile:

And of course, the intolerable Glenn Kessler:

They'll make a meal of Hillary not stopping the "lock him up," chants either, but after what she went through, good for her.

The conspiracy theories about Biden are pathetic and a great example of how much the perpetually online paranoia has bled into political coverage. The last thing the Democrats would have wanted tonight was having Biden on late as it has overshadowed a lot of the potentially positive reception of the night.

Eh, again I don't think it has. This is another very online, very Beltway media we-are-what-matters thing that doesn't translate to the real world. Most of the public either didn't care about the hour, were out west and/or will only watch the speeches and YT clips tomorrow anyway - that's just how our media landscape works now. As even some of their own pundits discussing it noted all this, they also said Beltway people often thinks strictly in terms of NYC and DC hours and network programming from 20-30 years ago ruling the day, and are out of touch with how the public consumes politics. Overall, minus Raskin's Rodney Dangerfield act it was a solid Day 1. (And I still suspect a future POTUS performance from Warnock.)

Chris Hayes is not that bad IMO, but he still has a vestigial burnout left streak from his formative days that occasionally surfaces and is easily influenced by nonsense and turns obnoxious. Fortunately, Lawrence O'Donnell is there.

Georgia Young Democrats leader Parker Short, last seen dancing to "Not Like Us" at the Atlanta rally and winning the heart of @Khan, confronts right wing personality Charlie Kirk after he tries to infiltrate the DNC. (Allegedly Matt Walsh is also there in a very poor disguise.)
