Earle Hyman

Daytime roles ...

Edge of Night....   Dr. Neil Davenport

                        ..... Sid the Bailiff

As The World Turns...   Lionel Dalton

Love of Life...  Dr. Paul Bryson

Search For Tomorrow...   Victor Thembi

All My Children...   Mr. Patterson

I'm sure there were more, but these are the ones that I know of.

I enjoyed Mr. Hyman on The Cosby Show, but I remember him as Sid the Bailiff on Edge.

RIP, kind soul.

I meant to comment on this sometime ago but the thread got lost in the maze of other bad news and daily scandals.

Earle Hyman was only eleven years older than his onscreen son on the Cosby Show. Hyman was not only an accomplished TV actor but an accomplished theater actor who was also fluent in Norwegian (I believe).

Why was that? Not a language many are fluent in (save Norwegians).

I think he did some theater in other countries when he was younger and spent some years in Norway. From what I once read, he really liked it there.
