November 1998

Following October '98, another great month. Alice discovers the file she's been looking for and begins searching for 'Sharon Collins.' Millie is desperate to warn Christine but collapses before she gets the chance. Meanwhile, Diane and Brad's sexy flirtation continues, while Christine travels to see 'Jim' and Ruth. Victoria Newman is hospitalized and, before long, her appendix ruptures, threatening to kill both her and her baby. Victoria is rushed into emergency surgery. Katherine calls Jill with the news that she has a new attorney -- Michael Baldwin. John Silva nearly sh!ts himself when he hears the news. Sharon confronts Nick about sleeping with Grace. She wants to move out but Nick offers to be the one to go. Tony confronts Grace and breaks off their second engagement. He and Megan become closer. Paul has noticed Christine's bizarre behavior, so of course he assumes she's cheating. He follows her to Jim and Ruth's and barges in... only to see his very much alive dad in front of him! As if that weren't a big enough shock, Jim/Carl wants nothing to do with Paul, whom he doesn't remember. Davidson does some amazing work here. Malcolm goes to Detroit to speak to Trey and the issues he and Olivia have been facing now become a chasm. Phyllis and Jack have sex but Phyllis wouldn't be Phyllis if she didn't have more going on: She assures Victor that she can spy on Michael for him -- if only she can convince him to get over the fact that she had him kidnapped! In one of my all-time favorite Y&R moments, Cole carries his ex-wife to see their baby daughter, Eve. Victoria sees her alive only once and, shortly after, learns that she died.

*This month's ranking was compiled via full episodes, partial episodes, and filling-in the blanks with recaps. As such, there's a small chance a character's count is off by one episode or something. Just a disclaimer lol*

    • Poor Philip. I appreciate how seriously his and Xander’s scenes were taken though. It felt like real drama and not like a big joke. You could actually feel Xander’s pain and anger. It adds another dynamic to the Kiriakis family storylines and I’m looking forward to the effects that this is going to have across the canvas. I can see them weaving Kate and Roman into this storyline as well. And it would be really nice if this somehow helped cause conflict for Stephanie/Alex too, especially because of what Alex did today. With any luck, Stephanie will be furious about it.  And I’m glad that Sarah has Maggie to confide in about her secret. I also liked seeing Steve and Shawn (and their matching jackets

) continue to be on the case. Kevin, revealing everything to them is another interesting turn in this storyline. Plus, it seems the writing has improved for Shawn as well.
    • TBF, I don't think we've seen her interact enough with the "have-nots" to know if she is or isn't. It's possible, but I don't think you can say that from her interactions with Eva and Silkpress.
    • You're right - though I did confuse his name with an actual actor who was on Dynasty.

    • "Might" is not "is". And I was talking about the specific case about her attitude to Eva.
    • But she can still be a priveliged elitist. She might have the same attitude to anyone from 'the wrong side of the tracks' whether they had an agenda or not. Nicole seems to be an outlier in her family. Her parents, kids and sister seem to think themselves above reproach.
    • Damian's clothes have definitely been a specific look -kinda reads 70's pimp to me . I guess it's a trend?? but it seems more suited to Holden. JR is 51  and I guess Damian is supposed to be a little younger but it looks a little odd on him in my book. But at least they're trying. The men's clothing has been bland/generic for years-either suits or basic casual stuff interchangeable  b/w them.
