I stopped working in the middle of June of 2015 [...] I think we started having a conversation about me coming back in August of last year, and I started working again in mid-November.

So he was gone maybe two months before Corday did a 180 and walked the whole show back (other cast, etc). This is why I stopped taking DAYS seriously almost 20 years ago.

If what Fairman says is true and Aiden is not exactly off the hook for plotting to murder Hope, then did retconning his death actually serve a purpose?

Aside from actors that really died which also meant the end for their characters (Alice, Tom, etc.), the only characters I can recall that stayed dead (played by a still-living person) are Jack Deveraux (this time, anyway!) and Isabella. And Isabella died in freaking 1992.

How are viewers supposed to feel an impact of death if the "deceased" does a "fooled ya!" less than 6 months later?!

What?!? There are plenty of Days characters that are dead. Lexie, Nick, Benjy, Zach, Samantha, Renee, Faye, Arianna, Franco, Shawn Sr....

Oops, brain fart. But I'm still not convinced half of them won't return whenever Corday gets desperate - which is often. The only ones I think will still are Benjy (because no point otherwise), Samantha the First (too long ago), and Shawn Sr. Everyone else, time will tell. I can see another Melaswen mess because rinse and repeat is all Corday knows. His poor parents must be rolling in their graves at what their son has done to their show.
