Members DramatistDreamer
I think these seesaw ratings are the new normal for soaps nowadays. Up for a week or two and then down the next. Some good stats some not-so-good stats. I feel like this is just the reality for the daytime soap industry now.
Administrator Toups Posted April 16, 2016 Author Administrator Share Posted April 16, 2016 Y&R/B&B/GH's Total Viewers are actually doing okay. It's the younger demos that all soaps are doing really bad in.
Members Soapsuds
You would think that B&B numbers would be higher in demos since all they do is feature Liam and Co. Maybe they are getting tired of the Liam show??
Members Fevuh
Hopefully B&B will have more Quwyiatt since it's twerkin'. And more Stuffy and Liam with the Lobotomy. I gave feedback to CBS - a year ago when they did a survey. Y&R: I'm a guy, but I think Y&R needs to give Jack and Victor a rest. On a team, everyone needs a rest. On B&B, crazy stories are fine once in a while, but Quinn is a KOOK. Why are you making her so nuts and nothing makes sense? Clearly they listened. And reached their lowest ratings....ever. Administrator Toups Posted April 16, 2016 Author Administrator Share Posted April 16, 2016 Well, no. It's not just one character. ALL soaps are down in demos. 0.8 isn't that bad for a low considering GH and DAYS' low is a 0.6.
Members DramatistDreamer
@Fevuh, I remember filling out that survey too, in depth. I suggested that they bring back Hillary's strong character but make her and Jill antagonists since they had such great chemistry in the past. I suggested that Hillary get a seat on the board (hello!!!) using the fact that Devon's millions help put Chancellor Industries back in Jill's hands. Jill would find Hillary's motives suspicious and despite their mutual dislike and distrust, discovered that they worked well together-- but Jill would still be low-key looking for ways to push Hillary out, while Hilary would look for ways to push her agenda, in the name of protecting her husband's invested interest. So let's see... Y&R brought back 'bad gal' Hilary (sort of) but instead of Jill, they used Ashley which kind of diminished the fireworks, since Ashley has never been the kind of combative character that Jill was/is, so the contention is unbalanced. Also, as I've been reading, Ashley has a brain tumor, so it just makes Hilary look like a villainess with little redeeming quality. Y&R has chosen to cast Hilary as a Social Climber (that's so 1970s/80s!) at some random new company/cause instead of as a woman in charge who feels that she is guardian of her and her husband's financial interests in a company that has been part of the fabric of Genoa City (and part of Y&R's history)-- at least there would be a bigger motive behind Hilary's scheming and if Jill were also scheming, it would've been so much more interesting. Oh well. I guess had they used all of my suggestions, instead of just half of one, there might have been some plagiarism risks, even though I offered them permission to use the idea.
