First 8 (40 minute) episodes watched. This show is excellent. I'm so thrilled to be able to watch a soap from the beginning, and it helps a lot that the quality of this show is inspiring. Thank the soap gods a brand new soap like this can still happen in our day and age. I like that it offers something different from the British soaps, now I'm not going to say it's better as I truly enjoy them, but I like that it has its own stamp.
I was worried at first because the starting with a murder and two rival families has been done so many times, but really so far after two weeks, it's not clogging up the whole show and the spotlight is on the police station. I command the creator for coming up with many different characters and ideas, and especially avoiding making the show too incestuous. The only thing I think they could have handled better is diversity. But overall, they found the right formula from the get-go.
I hope they do their best so that this soap can be picked up in a few more countries. Mine has NEVER tried a UK soap, an Irish one could work at last.

I strated watching this morning and I'm addicted.  I'm on episode 10 via the Amazon Prime service.  They are going by the twice weekly format so each episode is 20 minutes.

 

Anyway, What is the backstory of the two families?  What was the feud before the show took place?

It premieres September 12, and according to Denise McCormack (Bridget), the new format (one hour/once per week + post watershed) will see the show become more psychological. Personally, this makes me even more excited for the new season.

I'm nervous about the format change. I hope it stays as good as it is now. I wonder what it will mean for it's syndication. I believe the BBC has been airing it 5 days a week. I guess they could cut the new ones down to 2-parters for continued airing elsewhere.

 

The show has been so amazing so far, I'm going to trust that it is only going to get better with the changes.

How has the show done on BBC? (dammit with a TV license now being required to access their player) I am okay with the new format. I hope this means it can air at 9 pm or something on BBC in the future because they kind of wasted it in the afternoon, also I think this could help with the show exporting itself in Europe, etc.
I just started watching Series 2. I thought throughout the whole first season they were hinting at Adrijan being gay but I guess I was wrong. The whole Brian saga was must-see. I guess now there's the Paudge setting his flat on fire but Paudge is the one cop I'm not really invested in.

SEASON THREE DISCUSSION

 

 

 

The season three premiere did not disappoint. The killer was someone who made sense and is integral enough of a character that it can't just be neatly tied up, unlike if it were the wife or criminal character. The twist at the end was smart, making you think the accomplice was about to go down for the crime, but arresting someone else entirely.

 

The latter half of season two was mostly all about the Brian story so I look forward to what's to come now that the Hennessys and Kielys are sure to get more focus with Claire due to give birth, Michael hopefully returning, and Katie's

 

It'll also be interesting to see what happens with Sean now that he doesn't have Adrijan around anymore.

      Vivian and Sami had some great scenes in the late 90s where Sami would talk to Vivian about her problems, and Vivian would dole out sage advice. I have no doubt that in the fictional universe, Sami called Vivian to tell her about John (you'll recall Vivian called him Forrest while he called her Auntie Viv).

      1996/97 CBS moves Touched by Angel from Saturday 9 pm to Sunday 8 pm, where it pretty much inherited the Murder, She Wrote audience. `TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL' HAS PUT CBS EXECUTIVES IN RATINGS HEAVEN Touched by an Angel becoming a Top 10 show was a rare bright spot in that 1994-2000 CBS primetime mess era.

      Hahaha, dead. I still remember when Sharon threw Nikki's past in her face "you started on a pole and ended in a bottle". We saw Nikki go from climbing the pole to the OG ho turned housewife then snooty lady of the manor and now messy matriarch/grande dame.

        Very cheesy cover, but she got some good names to give quotes on how great the book is: Susan Flannery, Alec Baldwin (random), Pamela Long, Paul Rauch, Robert Newman, TV Guide, Soaps In Depth, and others. I'll have to let y'all know what I think when I get around to reading it haha.
