JR was the best of them all! He had more than one aspect to him, his sense of humor and the way he seemed to enjoy being bad, his respect for his parents, the way he tortured yet loved Sue Ellen, the way he would never give up trying to get Jon Ross, his complicated relationship with Bobby...I think it is his multi faceted personality that helped make him the biggest, most famous villain in TV history.

Hell, the US Government almost shut down on that night. The news even dedicated that last few minutes of the telecast to Dallas' season finale for those who were blacked out and missed JR getting shot. NOTHING on TV has ever come close. NOTHING!

Abby Ewing? Pffft!

Didn't Joan Van Ark last the longest?

On the contrary. Without looking it up, I THINK Van Ark's Young and the Restless run wasn't even half as long as Collins' on Guiding Light.

Then again, I might just be remembering it that way because I LOVED Van Ark as Gloria and was crushed when Judith Chapman replaced her.
