The list is long, recording artists who had famous relatives that came before, brothers, sisters, parents, even cousins. Which ones do you think are deserving of success in their own right? Do you feel some of them are BETTER than their relative that came before? Here's just a few:

These people I've listed all had singing, and not acting relatives, except one, and that's Gary Lewis. Having a famous actor whose relative was a singer is far more rare, the only two I can come up with off the top of my head are George Clooney and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

One recording artist that I feel is BETTER than their more famous relative is LaCosta Tucker, older sister of Tanya Tucker. She had 3 top 20 country hits, but was deserving of far more with a voice like this:

Robin Thicke I think is more talented than his parents. That is one case where nepotism seems to have been justified. Miley Cyrus also seems to have a bigger career than her father and if she would calm down she might wind up being someone who lasts. Crystal Gayle had a great voice and while she never had the career Loretta Lynn had, I think she did ok.

Shaun Cassidy. Who, BTW, I think is hotter than David. Those eyes!

There's also Patty Loveless, who is a cousin of both Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle.

Crystal Gayle had a total of 40 top 40 hits on the country charts, that's pretty impressive. Quite a few crossed over (My favorite being "Half the Way") I wanted to go see her last year at a local casino, and the damn show sold out! Thanks, MissLlanview, I forgot Shaun Cassidy, didn't I? I had no idea that Patty Loveless was Loretta and Crystal's cousin! You learn something new every day.

I looked it up again, and she's a distant cousin of theirs, so that may not be the best example of nepotism, if at all, but possibly.

There's also Rockwell (born Kennedy Gordy), who did the song "Somebody's Watching Me" in 1984. Apparently his father, Berry Gordy, didn't know that was his son originally, because he not only changed his name when he signed to Motown, but it was a son of his by one of the many women BG cheated on his wife with, although his wife did apparently raise him for awhile when his bio mom developed a drug problem.

I love both Crystal and Loretta. I really can't choose which one I prefer, but their styles are so different that it doesn't really matter. They epitomize two different eras.

I didn't know that Tanya Tucker had a sister than sang, but listening to her I do agree that she has the better voice.

Chaka Khan's sister, Taka Boom never had big success, but she's definitely has a good voice.

Sylvester Stallone's brother Frank got to do songs for the SNF sequel.

I'm thinking the best and most successful sibling in this category has to be Janet Jackson.

I didn't know Patty Loveless was their cousin either. I love Patty and Loretta, but I don't really know anything about Crystal.

There's Rosanne Cash (daughter of Johnny) too. June Carter would count as well since her mum was a member of the Carter Family. I think the girl in Lady Antebellum's mum is a singer but I don't know her name.

From down here, there's Kylie and Dannii Minogue as probably the most famous example.

Does Lucille 2 count as a part of the music business? Or is she just relegated to movies and the Broadway stage?

I forgot all about her and she is probably the longest careered nepotized entertainer of all. Her mother incorporated her into her act, tv show, concerts, whatever but it turned out she had talent.
