 I must be one of the few who never cared for Orlando Bloom, although I think Legolas, as a character, is cool.

My sister wants to see it because of Legolas as well but I don't know if he'll have more than a few minutes of airtime.

I wish they wouldn't have made it into a trilogy. There just isn't enough story in "The Hobbit" to fill three movies, especially if they all are close to three hours in length. They have obviously had to fill out the time with material that simply doesn't belong in this story.

Adding Legolas and Evangeline Lilly's character is a prime example. The elves play only a small part in the book after all.

Of course, this will not stop me from going to see it, but it does irritate me a little.

I am not sure that I going to see this in the theatre. I am going to wait for the reviews before making a decision. I cannot imagine how they are going to stretch out the story to fit two more movies.

I thought that Evangeline Lilly was retiring from acting. RME.

That's great to hear! Looking forward to seeing it. I just HAVE to ask, because I'm dying of curiosity: Do we get the

I think they showed the beginning of it in the first movie but not sure. I am DYING to see that.

Cumberbatch just does things to me, I can't even go there.

Thanks! Honestly, it's not even a scene in the book. From what I remember, Gandalf returns and

I am hoping we'll actually get to SEE it in this movie or the next one.

I'm glad the Smaug scenes were good. I intend to go Sunday!

Ok, I admit it, I was wrong! About every negative thing I said beforehand. I LOVE this movie, and I love this trilogy. I'm gonna say it.... it's better than the LOTR trilogy.

The only small criticism I have concerns the escape from the elves. It looked too much like a videogame.

But the rest.... awesome!

I even liked Legolas, and I wasn't that keen on him in the LOTR movies. And Evangeline Lilly's character fit in perfectly. I know, I know, she wasn't in the book, but frankly I don't care. It worked, and it worked beautifully. I even loved the little thing between her Tauriel and Aidan Turner's Kili. wub.png

And what can you say about Martin Freeman.... He's absolutely perfect as Bilbo. Perfect!

And I bow down to the genius of Peter Jackson. I didn't think the decision to make a trilogy would work, but now I wish they had made more than a trilogy. I don't want it to end after the next movie.... sad.png

Umm, Peter, ever heard of a little book called "The Silmarillion".....? tongue.png

I'll join the chorus of people saying that this was better than the first movie--and I really, really enjoyed An Unexpected Journey.

I really loved how you are thrown right into the middle of action here and it just goes and goes and goes from there. Seriously, at some point I thought we must be close to the end, how will they have time to do all the dragon stuff and then realized we were only an hour into the film. It was just so dense.

And it gave me the scene I have been waiting for since the movies were announced: A magical fight between Gandalf & Sauron! :D It was epic.

Smaug was truly amazing. A wonderful CGI creation. His mere existence was terrifying.

I still have an issue with the effects other than Smaug. They went for a much more stylized/fairytale-like, almost other-worldly, look and I just can't get used to it. And some shots were just bad. The liquid gold looked horrible, for example. But it ended at a great moment and I cannot wait to see how they end this and bridge it to LOTR. I wonder who we'll see and who we won't!

LOL I am under the impression they couldn't get the rights to it.

    • Goulet also had an odd way of speaking - very clipped and brisk, like she had just gotten out of a '40s film. She sounded out of breath. She had this on all her soaps. She was a better actress than Tolan and did well enough with Mary's grief over her marriage in her final week or two in the part but had no real spark.  I agree they may have found a better Mary if they had tried harder. For some reason the recasting for the Ryan kids was never what it should have been. I don't know what was going on with Barbie Siobhan. Maybe that was ABC.
    • The finale peaked at 31.1 rating when Katherine hit Bobby with her car.
    • Exactly. And it's not like Stephanie didn't live a life when Hennig played her.  There are so many stories and relationships you can mine from her past.  And we just got......a book and sex with Alex or the random Bobby backstory which no one needed  I trust new writing can get the character back on track.  Like I said, I do think Abigail Klein has charisma.
    • Today (Thurs May 15) eppy not on paramount *menu* but it's on cbs.com. If you take the cbs episode URL and substituted paramountplus for cbs in the same URL, you get the episode on pplus https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/ https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/
    • Really good episode today. Even the characters who usually annoy me, like Chase and Brook Lynn, got some sweet scenes. I also appreciate that they're finally giving Lucky more to do, letting him in on Ric & Ava's blackmail scheme. And those Liz and Lucas scenes were fantastic;  Van Hansis has been bringing such playfulness to the role of Lucas, he brings out the best in scene partners like Laura Wright and Becky Herbst. It was also nice to get Liz's perspective on why her romantic rapprochment with Lucky is moving so slow; it makes perfect sense that she thinks he's not really capable of settling down, even if he wants to be with her.
    • I thought Keith did great as well. His scene with Colby was what sold me. He displayed the emotions that a man who knows he's made a mistake and wants to rectify should have. Its funny how Maurice has been given passes in his acting that other actors have not. What Keith has shown me is that he can atleast keep up with the ladies in his story instead of them acting circles around him when Maurice was playing the role.
    • Also Murder, She Wrote season 3 finale was the week before.
    • When Kat was in Ted's hotel room and he wasn't there, she started to write a note to leave for him, and then thought Why? and texted him instead.  Love that.
