I have heard some things (poor Sheangela, another of my favorites) so I understand.  Due to the Lockdown, I've been catching some of the recent season and liked it (I haven't watched a season since Season 2/3 back in 2010...life, no channel, blah blah) so I have to say seeing so many people from seasons I watched I admit I want to see. And I just love JuJu...lol. My BFF (who got me into it) is so excited for Alexis.

Yep. What happened with Shangela was absolute bullish!t, especially after she worked so hard to refine her look and polish her act during her years away from the show. I’ve never understood Ru’s desire to create fake drama on All-Stars in order to differentiate it from the mothership.

I like the idea behind GIgi's, but I couldn't finish it. Not because it was not good, but now that song (and Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off') have new emotional attachments to them due to the show THE MAGICIANS. But no spoilers here if you haven't watched that.

I came middle of the show from work. I liked it overall. I loved that Heidi got voted that. And I am happy with who won because I felt of the three I could not take my eyes off her.

Winner was never in doubt. She’s amazing.

I loved Heidi’s little sketch in the middle of the finale. She’s so much fun.

Sad about the longtime Drag Race producer who passed away. That was a lovely tribute to her from the queens throughout the seasons. They really created a vivid picture of who she was.

Much better finale than the lackluster reunion.

First off Congrats to Jaida  - some stunning looks throughout the season and a funny likeable queen.

Ru's serial killer masks were just plain weird.

Going in it was b/w Jaida and Gigi. Crystal was great but too quirky and not as polished  up against those two.

OK Face lipsync

Gigi was clear winner , even using her eyelashes as Michelle stated. Crystal's makeup was messy and made it hard to make out her expressions and those yellow teeth !! Jaida did a fine job.

Home made video.

Crystal was madness with the bird theme but she should have moved to a full reveal in some bird costume than just the puppets all the way through.

Gigi's was incredible with the costumes. filming and tribute to the original clip.

Jaida just pushed the sofa to one side of the room and the Ciara song was pretty ordinary.

Final lipsync

Again Crystal's look was cluttered and distracted from the lipsync .The song didn't suit her .

Gigi slayed it with the costume change

Jaida to me was up to her usual standard but nothing we hadn;t seen before.

So I was a little surprised to have Ru announce Jaida as the winner.

Methinks that Gigi didn't represent  what Ru (and the producers) want the show to represent.

The narrative constantly pushed is that the show is some sort of touchstone that changes lives and provides inspiration for the vulnerable and marginalized.

Gigi was a confident, talented , priveleged queen with supportive mom.

Not the struggle that Ru wants to present.

Rumor has it Gigi almost got disqualified because they were told their lipsync videos had to be filmed at their homes and she went to a studio to have hers professionally done. They made her refilm it. All in all I thought all the videos had a good idea. Crystal suffered from poor execution. If it looked more put together it would’ve been my favorite. Jaida was stunning. Gigi’s was good but I was bored with the song. I do think Crystal should’ve done Rhythm of the Night. Ru would’ve loved that and it would’ve been a nice bookend on her lookalike comparisons.

In the end I’m happy Jaida won. It’s always nice seeing a black girl win when so many have been overlooked. For All Stars I’m rooting for the minority queens because that show is the worst when it comes to picking a worthy winner. Jujubee is my first choice then Shea.

I'll be honest. When I first saw Jaida's I was taken aback especially after watching Gigi's and Crystal's (not that Crystal's was very good IMO), because it's the one that looked like she just recorded it at home. The other girls had backgrounds or other elements that distracted from the fact they had to do these at home. Jaida pulled up in her living room and started dancing with all her furniture on display. However, after watching a second time, she did deliver with moves and a good lip sync, it was just so distracting because it looked like a Tik Tok video.

I think Jaida’s edit this season laid her out as the favorite, although they provided arcs for Crystal (finding her quirky voice) and Gigi (early front runner rediscovering her confidence after several shaky weeks) to try to make them seem competitive. (To be honest: The mostly white Drag Race fan community have often diminished the black queens, so I’m not surprised if there’s controversy beyond the usual “my favorite didn’t win,” but I see a good bit of support for Jaida.)

    • I can definitely see that airing the same week as The Love Boat colliding with an iceberg and sinking while crossing the North Atlantic on the Titanic anniversary with a “Who lives and dies?!” Promo next to Mr Belvedere being blackmailed over his wanted fugitive status back in the UK

Agree with you both. I am also going assume that while Hotel may had some big numbers the first 2 seasons BUT the demographics weren’t great. Reason I say this is I distinctly remember my parents watching St Elsewhere and/or The Equalizer after Dynasty.    I still don’t get Hotel’s designation as a primetime soap opera either lol. ABC should have aired Paper Dolls in the 10/9 slot on Wednesdays in the fall of 1984 to give that show some more legs.    Obviously ABC was eyeing a double bill night in the same vein as Dallas & Falcon Crest and that might have worked better than leaving Paper Dolls to the wolves in an untested timeslot.
    • I tend to stay out of EP discussions, simply because I rarely know who EPs when. And they all have their good and bad sides. But how are we supposed to judge JFP on anything other than what we see? I didn't know she was a director or a music director. (and unlike say, Chris Goutman, I never saw her credited as anything other than an EP) Specifically in the matter of casting Crampton, she took credit for it (or at Crampton gave her credit for it, whatever) and it was arguably, one of the worst recasts of the '90's (and either as bad or worse than the actress she fired).  She lost two important actresses in '92 and still decided to kill Maureen.  She had a wildly uneven tenure at GL. It's no wonder she's polarizing. But it kind of proves a point--great soap is always a that rare combination of everything clicking at the same time.  And believe me, if I could bring myself to watch her male successors who were responsible for bringing back Reva and allowing her to eat the show again, or hiring Hunt Block, or being too chicken to stand up to stans who and hamstrung the show with boring couples stuck in the same repetitive stories (Vanessa/Matt, Chelle/Danny or Richard/Cassie, take your pick) not to mention San CristoHELL....I'd be more than happy to roast them on open spits. I guess we end up talking about JFP because she's in a period we can nominally agree was one of the last "best" periods of the show.
    • A degree does not make one an expert at their job, it just shows that you can follow directions from a technical standpoint.  It doesn't mean that they're creative. JFP was all about the look of a show without considering that technical beauty can only carry a show so far if there is nothing interesting to go along with it.  Equality means calling out flaws equally in both genders.
    • NBC or P&G was even fool enough to take a full page ad for two consecutive weeks in TV Guide promoting this horrible storyline.

    • JFP has had more defense for her decades of terrible producing than many male producers ever had.
    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.
    • Of course!

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.
