I'm sorry, I'm just being honest, don't think I don't want the show to succeed or won't watch -- but that promo didn't make AMC sound enticing, dramatic, or welcoming It needed some kind of exciting backing music. It felt like a bad trailer with choppily edited clips that you might see for a low-budget indie movie on a cheap DVD.

I think Angie comes off best from it, and Tad who won't even be on the show.

No it doesn't... Looks hell of a lot better than any promo ABC has done

Oh, honey. Believe me, I've seen a million bad, low-budget trailers, too many of them. I know from good to [!@#$%^&*]. This was fine, nor was it a trailer. It could've been a little tighter on narration but it was pretty damn good.

It was better than the GH 50th anniversary opening

I just deal in media promotional packages, both good and shitty, all day long, and having to fix them - this was very decent for the medium and the product.

Interesting trade-off - I thought the AMC recap needed more narration and more archival clips in the individual sections for couples/characters, as opposed to putting a lot of the older material at the end. But, you guys also got new dialogue and bits of new scenes interspersed throughout, whereas with OLTL we just got a quick montage of shots.

Well said. I think both siblings won in the end, though--and I liked that both emphasized what I love about each soap.

What's most heartening about the AMC clip--and the OLTL clip--is that whoever put them together seems to--mostly--GET what fans love and feel connected with about these shows. They aren't just random.

YES! It gets me at my core to know that someone involved sat down, and at some point, said "Okay, let me find a good clip of Charles Tyler to put in here." It's not even about the VETS!VETS!VETS!FLASHBACKS!FLASHBACKS!FLASHBACKS! as much as it's about the fact they acknowledge that while these shows are new, there are 40+ years of history upon which they are building, and there are legacies to get back to and to live up to. ABC forgot that at some point.

Was the footage of Angie telling David he'd lost a brother, two daughters, etc. new? Because for the life of me it looked like Debbi's hairstyle from the last few episodes on ABC, but it sure sounded like she was referencing Marissa - though she could've meant Leora, of course.

Those scenes were old (9/15/11). Debbi's playing blind in that scene tongue.png the two daughters she mentioned were Babe & Leora
