HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

That surprises me because I know Agnes didn't watch the Bell soaps. What did Bill Bell think of AMC/OLTL. Does anyone know what Bill Bell and Agnes Nixon's relationship was?

She did pay attention to the Bell soaps. In All Her Children, Dan Wakefield the novelist who wrote the book when he became a big fan, visits the Nixons (this would have been around '74/'75) and mentions how one of Nixon's daughters says at dinner how another soap (that Wakefield refuses to mention in his book) that her and her mom have been watching seems to be ripping off a story of hers (I *think* it's the on screen plastic surgery to attract a younger man story). Agnes comes to the defence and says that she's worked with that author--since they both worked with Irna Phillips--and that he tells his stories very differently, and very intelligently so it's not a rip off--and then it goes into some about how "he" (obviously Bell) is more interested in darker psychological stories, a slower pace, and no humour, so they are different that way. Of course this may have all been made up or changed for the book, but...

I think the idea of sharing crew is so wise and cost efficient. If these folks end up delivering a revolutionary, cost cutting way to make soaps viable again, that's a good thing. Let me slow this horse down, because I just got that gut tug of when you're getting a little too excited and setting yourself up for upset.

It also makes sense if they do decide to show, or at the least film, one soap for 5-6 weeks and then the other. No crew would be happy switching off and having no work for that downtime...

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. Constant crew, revolving cast.

They were shot on location, in a hotel room for goodness sake, but there was a very warm, sophisticated look that was so much nicer than sterile studio lighting.

Right, they used a hotel room and a (real) bar, I seem to remember. I wonder if they're still online.

The What If's did look cheap, though I thought they were a fun way for ABC daytime to aknowledge their fans...

After some time away, you returned to ALL MY CHILDREN then left again for good. What led you to leaving?

Wisner Washam: Megan McTavish.

Interesting you say that. Among fans online, she is very unpopular writer in ALL MY CHILDREN history.

Wisner Washam: She wasn't a pleasant person to be with every day, I'll tell you that. She drove me away.

What was her role at that point on the staff?

Wisner Washam: She was one of the outline writers. But she has a big mouth. And a very domineering personality.

What were the "What If's"?

Is that when they paired Erica Kane with Sonny from GH?

Lorraine Broderick (a friend of Washam's) can't stand McT, either.

And we all know how Cady McClain feels about her. LOL.

I'd like to know just how Agnes feels about her.

Yes, Pine.

Very happy to hear about MEK!

PP should approach Ellen Holly.

Cady got royally screwed over by her. Didn't Cady cite in an interview when she returned in late 2005 that Megan McTavish was a major reason why? And that she had pitched a great story for Dixie.

Yeah, not a great recommendation at all. But Hal Corley, who is very close with Lorraine Broderick where he came up with her gay story and a few others, said he enjoyed working under her (he joined basically right after Washam left) and that Agnes Nixon was always there to give her thumbs up or down and got along with her. Not that that's a recommendation either, but I think, despite the mess that led to her firing, she did have supporters as well, and some strong material. And though her late 90s return was a mess (though apparently partly under orders to make it more Days-ish), and her last return ended in a dismal year or two, even that last era showed a more emotionally strong AMC at times than we have often had.

Actually, DM said that Darnell is definite, and that MEK is MOST likely on board, but it isn't definite yet.

I still don't care what anyone else says, AMC from the time Megan took over in 2003 to early 2005 was the best it had probably been since Lorraine's 1995-1997 era. The show at least felt like a community. It just came undone SO fast, the last half of her tenure pretty much negated any decent stuff she may have done.

I bet he does sign though. I don't see MEK passing up the opportunity.

If he is in, I feel Cady will probably sign on as well. This new, potentially innovative venture seems right up her alley.

Megan McTavish might start out strong, but she is too easily influenced in the wrong direction, and often takes out her dislike for an actor on the character. If I recall correctly, Cady went to the writers with her displeasure over Tad torturing Madden, and shortly thereafter, Dixie died by poisoned pancakes.

Yep, Cady got mouthy, and rightfully so. I believe she also spoke out about the decision not to renew Julia Barr's contract.
