Members Y&RWorldTurner
I know Fran randomly mentioned once in an episode that [her life] "was like a storyline from The Young and the Restless." Didn't The Nanny also tape at Television City, where Y&R and B&B are housed? Or am I mistaken?
Members chicklitsandfantasies
Braeden made a guest appearance on there I believe as a critic. I watched the epi a few months ago.
Members Khan
Y&R and B&B tape at TC, but "The Nanny" taped at the Culver Studios in Culver City.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Thanks! I always assumed that they were TC-based to do that Y&R set tour episode on the cheap.
Members Khan
To me, it always seemed strange for "The Nanny" to make so many Y&R references. I mean, it's one thing when they referenced DAYS and Patch in the episode Stephen Nichols guest-starred in; and yeah, the two shows ("Nanny" and Y&R) appeared on the same network; but I always felt like Fran Drescher Fine was more of an AMC/OLTL/RYAN'S HOPE gal, you know? At the very least, I see her watching ANOTHER WORLD or SEARCH FOR TOMORROW over Y&R.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Also, given that the show was NYC based - a BIG market for ABC soaps, it was strange she didn't rep them aside from occasional AMC references. Then again, I know originally Joey on Friends was supposed to be an AMC actor, since AMC was Crane and Kaufman's favourite soap, but NBC demanded they change it to DAYS - even though DAYS is taped in LA and Friends was New York based (the show's premise that is). Members Eric83
I remember Joey auditioning for a role on AW too.
Members MissLlanviewPA
I'm sure two of the other reasons Y&R was mentioned so much was due to Charles Shaughnessy and Nicholle Tom having family members working on the show (David Shaughnessy and Heather Tom, of course). Members Khan
And am I wrong, or did the show make it seem as if Y&R actually taped in NYC? I presume they knew the truth, but ignored it for the sake of expediency (and because, they believed no one would catch on and/or care).
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I think Fran and the Sheffield family visited the Y&R set while on a trip to LA.
Members SFK
I think they maintained Y&R's California location. I believe it was specifically a trip Fran took to L.A. when she visited the Y&R set.
Members chicklitsandfantasies
And thanks to MAB we ended up with Madeline's sister.
Members Khan
But remember the episode where Fran briefly had a role on the show? This might have been the same ep that featured Dorothy Lyman and (how random) Pamela Anderson. I still maintain MAB thought she was hiring Madeline (and not Yvonne) to play Daisy.
