I can't say that I'm disappointed that BW isn't reprising this role (as he wasn't AJ in any way, shape, or form to me), but I can see why fans of his would be since he received the shiteous writing that the others mercifully avoided.

As for Monica treating AJ like the scum beneath her shoe, I'm more than willing to let bygones be bygones if Ron doesn't bungle up AJ's return by turning it into a retread of the Guzafied fuckery that I had to sit through. Let the snaggletoothed skunk that poor AJ had the misfortune of knocking up suffer (and hopefully slit her own throat to rid herself [as well as the viewers] of her own miserable existence) along with her meathook-hanging thug of an ex while Eeyore finally gets a clue enough to be a tolerable character in his own right because of AJ and I will pretty much forgive Monica/Alan/Emily for their shoddy treatment of Alan, Jr.

Normally I wouldn't comment on anything related to that crow, but I fail to understand why she's in the wrong for doing her job. She's made it crystal clear that she'll work for anyone that'll keep her laced in designer threads from jump, so I'm not seeing how she is a 'backstabber'.

Unless she signed a blood oath promising to defend Sonny, the roided goiter, and their pathetic sycophants, there's no reason why she should be considered 'disloyal'. If anything, she's being true to character (and frankly, reacting in a way that any lawyer who is all about chasing a check would) and I simply can't hold her accountable for that.

Unless something changed, she was on retainer for Sonny. Defending people on opposing sides of him is a clear conflict of interest. The Connie stuff was the absolute worse bc as mentioned she was actually friends with Kate. For her to exploit her illness and prevent her from getting treatment all for the sake of a check is absolute sh-t an it speaks volumes of the type of person that she is

Diane quit working for Sonny to become a writer for the paper. She then went back to being an attorney for the guy who fired her from that job, Todd. So this jives with what VH said. Diane would do anything to stay in expensive shoes. However, her condolences to Carly when Jason bit it are worthless. There are just some clients you turn down. She's coming off as an ambulance chaser. I like Diane so seeing her onscreen works for me, but I'd like for her to be a bit more selective. Carly is going to blow a gasket!

To add to what ChitHappens said about Diane quitting Sonny to work on the paper as a gossip columnist, I'm not at all outraged by Diane's current status as Konnie, Todd, and AJ's lawyer because:

1. She's expressed time and time again that the only reason why she's around the people on canvas (barring Alexis and one of Sonny's hired hands that's she's dating - that is, unless they broke up since I last saw those two) is because they pay her for her services. Just as the mob folks were clients of hers, Konnie/Todd/AJ are clients of hers at the present time. I'm sure that she'd drop either one of them if someone else offered her a bigger check to (hopefully) usher her ass off canvas for good.

2. Just as Sonny and the roided goiter had/have no problem imposing their thug life values on other people and justifying it as 'just being about da bidness', Diane is all about handling her business and has never lost sight of that in the entire time that she's stunk up this canvas - which, quite frankly, is the only quality of hers that I actually like.

If anything, I have more respect for her on that front than Alexis - who is held up to be a lot more 'morally upright' than Diane, yet had no problem turning the other way after Sonny stole Eeyore from AJ via meathook or had no problem stabbing her own best friend in the back in favor of the Slagbeast instead of defending him in retaining sole custody of his child.

At Connie's hearing, Diane reminded Sonny that she is no longer on retainer for him. I like Diane in general and I'm loving that she is defending everyone else in town that isn't named Sonny (or Jason). I see it as a way that GH is becoming more balanced as a show. Instead of Sonny/Jason getting away with everything because they had the only decent lawyer(s) in town, now other characters are starting to get their own POV and also have a shot at decent representation in court ... even if that character happens to be at odds with the great and powerful Sonny. I don't see Diane as being in the wrong at all. I find the Sonny fan club characters hypocritical when they criticize Diane for having the audacity to defend other (usually guilty) parties but yet they have always considered it honorable and decent for her to represent Sonny/Jason (who were usually guilty) and help them get away with their crimes. As Diane said, everyone is entitled to the best defense and unlike some soap lawyers (i.e., Nora Buchanan) Diane knows that means giving the best defense to your clients even when you know they're guilty - that's what defense attorneys are sworn to do.

Overall I like Spinelli and Alexis both, I just disagree with them both that Diane is some sort of traitor for representing Todd (as Spinelli implied) and Connie (as Alexis implied). I'm sure Sam will eventually say something about Diane defending Todd also and there are likely to be several upset over her defense of AJ, but so be it. I like that more characters are getting stories where they get equal treatment with the characters they are in conflict with - to me that is a big part of making a soap compelling and unmissable. Plus for my own personal preferences, I'm thrilled that Todd has Diane as his attorney. Todd is one of my faves so I want him to have an attorney skilled at keeping criminals out of prison ... I'll take Diane onscreen anyday if it keeps Todd in Port Charles (and Tea out of PC).

I can deal with Diane being the all-purpose defense attorney in town, esp. since Sonny and Jason were guilty, guilty, guilty most of the time! But the argument can be made that her longstanding relationship with them makes this, um, complicated. lol

However, Connie is different--as others have pointed out, she and Kate were friends. Has RC seen 2008? Kate, Diane, and Alexis were attached at the hip (not just the latter two). In RC's defense, GW forgot about Kate/Diane/Alexis and he was the one that started that friendship!

    • I would submit to you that she doesn't need any more excuses, not when it comes to Bill. But, I am one fan who thinks Bill isn't done with Dani & also the reverse is so. Those two, IMO, are locked in some kind of toxic but  irresistible vortex. I'm not saying we're going to have scifi. Just the personality kind of vortex. OH!!! Thanks. I don't do Y&R. But I totally understand anger even frustration with Josh.
    • Any chance you could share this episode to the vault? Please.
    • @asafi @yrfan1983 Jennifer Brooks death was September 1977. A recap of it is here
    • a reference to a mystery character on Y&R named "Aristotle Dumas" who has been discussed a zillion times in the past few months but never seen.  Not mad at the character.  Mad at Y&R writer Griffith for the annoyance. Mentioned to point out the annoyances of Y&R in contrast to enthusiasm for BTG.
    • It also seemed like she wanted an excuse to go over Bill's and yell at him.
    • The number 1 rated soap, and no one seems to like it. I don’t remember the last episode I watched. The Damian story was the only thing keeping me watching but I just gave up on the show altogether again.
    • Not all friends are alike though and there should be a counterbalance in some friendships on soaps. Dani has already been all over the place enough and doesn't need an unstable friend.
    • I was finally warming up to Eva but today, that girl, what in the world was she thinking, crawling back to Mama saying she was under a lot of pressure. Pitiful. And, just what did she get for her trouble? Rebuffed, totally. Anastasia, she can go kick rocks. Who needs her & what was she wearing? I'm surprised to learn that some people did not have an appreciation of Dani & then Anita, right after, at Theodore's. I thought they were both right on the money & also sharp, witty.  Ted, of course, is playing at being Impervious Man, which is very funny & he takes it one step further, making all these declarations of his intent to woo Nicole back & win her trust again. I find myself laughing so hard at him & at how he has totally misread his circumstances. He has zero chance but wow he has so much confidence. This I find to be so humorous, possibly unintentionally so.  Edit to add: What does Alexander Dumas have to do with anything? And why are people seeming to be mad at him?
