January 31, 200620 yr Member From Cinema Confidential: In a news story in Variety about studios taking advantage of release dates (ie. "The Omen 666" to be released 06.06.06), the trade also reveals that a new Friday the 13th prequel featuring the origins of Jason Vorhees is targeted for Friday the 13th, October 2006. New Line is rushing to make the prequel, although no confirmed details have been released. Previously, it was reported that Quentin Tarantino would have some involvement in the feature but those rumors were squashed by Tarantino himself. Jason Vorhees was last seen in "Freddy vs Jason" in August 2003.
January 31, 200620 yr Member The Prequel? Well considering Mrs. Vorhees was the original killer from Friday the 13th, I don't understand how they are going to do a prequel about Jason's past. The only thing they could do is show when he was a child and have him drown and [!@#$%^&*] in Crystal Lake. He was still a boy at the end of the first movie when he jumped outta that lake soooo....
January 31, 200620 yr Member Sweet...I love the Friday the 13th series. The last few have sucked though, hopefully this will be a better one.
January 31, 200620 yr Member I love the series as well...Parts 1-4 were the best...but NOW they are getting carried away!!
January 31, 200620 yr Member Is it gonna be like Batman Begins, where they show Jason's upbringing? Unless they make his mom a total looney tune where she was hacking up people before she started on the camp counselors, it's not going to be that exciting.

February 1, 200620 yr Member Gah. What is up with all these prequals. Now there's also a prequal to Texas Chainsaw Massacre (soap fans will recognize Matthew Bomer [ex- Ben, GL] as one of the victims).
February 1, 200620 yr Member I thought the first movie was sort of the prequel? They just won't let this franchise die. I do however want another Freddy, he's hell of funny.
