Members DRW50
I have (I mentioned it in the status thing earlier today). It's repulsive, but also fascinating. I am surprised at how long this has been happening - I expected the media to move on within a week or less. I'm even more surprised that Brooks, who is known as being like a daughter to Murdoch, was pushed out. It looks like one reason may be that his daughter blames Brooks for all these problems. I don't think Fox News will be affected. Corporate-owned FCC has said they won't be investigating.
Members MichaelGL
Really? Did they also hack into the phones of 9/11 victim families?
Members DRW50
There's some speculation about how far into America this goes, due to the 9/11 stuff. The man who publishes the Wall Street Journal has resigned so it may have more effect here. Guiliani, always a good character reference (ask Kerik) is out and about. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/07/15/new.york.giuliani.hacking/ I can't help feeling sorry for the hundreds of people who lost their jobs to protect Rebecca Brooks. For nothing.
Members ReddFoxx
What is critical is here finding out what Murdoch knew and how much control he had over all of this. If that was going on over in UK, what's to say that celebrities and politicians here have not been hacked? There are big questions and there need to be answers to them fast. Members quartermainefan
It all reminds me of when Adam Chandler lost ownership of Channel 5, the British TV station he coveted, because of a lack of morals.
Members Max
This whole thing is disgusting. I always thought it was such a tragedy that Murdoch was able to get his hands on the Wall Street Journal, since that newspaper was previously the gold-standard when it came to conservative media publications. If Fox News goes down (which is very unlikely), I wonder if the Fox Broadcast Network will go down as well.

Administrator Toups Posted July 17, 2011 Author Administrator Share Posted July 17, 2011 Wow, Brooks was arrested today. Members Max
This is no surprise, unfortunately. In the early-1990's, I seem to recall that NBC News was criticized for lack of reporting on a GE scandal (although I forget what that GE scandal was about). With the Dan Rather "Memogate" scandal of 2004, I'm pretty sure that CBS News spent very little time reporting on it (aside from doing damage control). "Police said Hoare's death at his home in England was not considered to be suspicious, according to Britain's Press Association news agency." Not considered to be suspicious, my ass! Rupert's testimony is Tuesday - that should be interesting. NewsCorp is taking a major hit in the market: News Corp.
