That's a good point. The red dress speaks for itself, which Mia rocked. Mia wasn't who Malone had in mind when he conceived of Blair, IIRC, and I think some of this material, knowing Mia is on the way out, is shifting her more toward he had intended Blair to be - it's a credit to Mia that she makes it work.

And you're right about the choices with Max's hair.

A gay story with Andrew could have been interesting, although given Billy I know it would have been too much for a soap at the time (or now).

Sadly... I think you are right... especially about the bolded part.

She is used well so far, but my only complaint is that Sheila Price/Valerie Pettiford should have been a LEAD on this show. I will never drop it.

I can't agree more. I think I even said something very similar months ago. I am STILL not satisfied with the amount of material they are giving her. Just when I think she's about to be front and center... we don't see her for a week or two. I also think they missed a chance long time ago when they had that racist actress that was against Sheila... that old psycho biddy woman... I forgot her name... they never delved into that for more than couple of episodes. In my opinion it should have led to Sheila getting her MOMENT and shining through. It was a missed opportunity.

I'm watching January 6, 1993. Just saw Todd Manning for the first time. Only seen him in pictures before this.

Wade always seemed like a nice guy (I know abusers can start out that way but we wouldn't have had the buildup) but Mari Lynn returning with a new, abusive husband would have made sense to me, especially as she was friendly with Megan.

Brad Vernon and whichever O'Neill he was with (Connie?) also would have made sense. I don't think Steve Fletcher had started on AW at that time. I know it could have "ruined" his redemption, but the character was a rapist and horrible to multiple women for years.

Mari-Lynn also lived in the carriage house, right? She would actually be ideal to involve Megan and Viki if that was the goal.

I hadn't thought of that. Good spot.

How about Viki's cousin, Richard Abbott? It could lay the groundwork for the idea that there are monsters in even privileged families (looking at you, Powell and Victor).

That would make sense. And was certainly something Malone loved beating into the ground with the Lords.

Yeah, all roads in Malone's OLTL tend to lead back to that idea.

To the long-term detriment of the show.

That would be interesting and set the tone for what was to come (for worse)

Moving through November and the action continues. Doug, not Roger, has kidnapped Viki and Megan. That was quick and maybe I can see how this wasn’t earned, but Erika Slezak and Jessica Tuck are giving it so I am happy. As Viki and Megan are trapped in the cellar, across town, Dorian is accused of masterminding Cassie’s stalker fiasco. This was a great contrast on the two mother/daughter relationships.

It is nice to finally see Cord and Tina’s farewell, and Blair’s true scheming side come out as she lies that the bellhop claimed there were no more rooms to ensure she and Cord stay close.

I really have to say I love the community they have built but I don’t want to constantly repeat this. Something about Luna’s reaction to Viki and Megan being kidnapped got to me.

With all this said, it seems things are just happening, with some nice monologues thrown in now but I know they are about to become more “soapy” soon so it’s interesting to see the build.

Question: would it have been better for Megan and Max to reconnect as fond friends versus pairing her with Andrew in these weeks? I do enjoy her scenes with Andrew but I really enjoyed Max and Megan in the 80s episodes.
