Members Juliajms
Did anyone watch The Borgias last night? I thought it was pretty decent. Lot's of soapy intrigue and scheming for power.
Members classicmoment
I like the script writing, I don't know yet about other elements overall. I like the premise. For a show trying to sell me class, luxury, and sophistication I wish they would film it in a better resolution that emphazises better lighting and other designs. There's something cheap looking about it which I doubt it is
Members EricMontreal22
I'm... on the fence. It's a bit too Tudors for me, which I guess was what Showtime wanted, but frankly I expected more from Neil Jordan. I'll keep watching to hope it gets a bit less "surface"--it looks gorgeous at any rate. And isn't bad, but it's not anything I feel compelled to worry about missing, so far. Members DRW50
Is there any nudity? That is usually the only thing that I might be interested in with some of the duller historical dramas...
Members EricMontreal22
Yes PG 13--like Tudors, not HBO. I'm over any butts+literally+ for lame historical drama.
Members DRW50
I don't think it's needed for good drama, but it helps with crap. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was never exactly known for his acting...
Members EricMontreal22
Ha I actually think he's vastly underated in early films like Velvet Goldmine--but no, not Tudors.
Members Juliajms
Juan is a heartless, incompetent ass! I can't believe he poisoned Jem (sp) without knowing what he was doing. He was such a sweet, trusting fool. He had no idea he was in a nest of vipers. It was like watching a lamb go to slaughter.
