What was your favorite prime time soap weddings of the 80's?

I think my favorite was JR and Cally on Dallas. it brought everyone to southfork and then the heavy rains made everyone stay the night. Of course Sue Ellen got her old room, right across from JR and Cally. it was such a fun episode. It even had a flashback or two because Sue Ellen was doing the JR Movie.

my second favorite would be the two weddings of Krystal and Blake on Dynasty. The first one was such a big affair but the second one was more special because they found their way back to each other. I didn't like the hat thing Krystal wore at that second wedding but i liked everything else.

They all sort of blur together for me. Oddly enough I can't remember the weddings for the couples I enjoyed (Laura/Greg, Abby/Gary). With Valene/Ben I just remember her with Gary when he found out about the babies being his.

Sorry, but I don't believe the primetime soaps ever gave good weddings. Prince Michael and Amanda's wedding on DYNASTY comes closest, but only b/c it served as the glorious backdrop for the (shark-jumping) Moldavian Massacre.

Yeah. I think all the adult Stephanie’s have called him that. I don’t mind it but for like the first half of today’s show, it felt constant 😂😂
And agreed, that it’s not as grating as when Charlotte says it. Or the way that RSW pronounces some words (Ontie, Damarea, etc.) 😂😂😂

And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Leading an exemplary life that touches all the lives around you, so that your presence will still be felt long after you're gone.
As an actor, writer, director and humanitarian, Rob Reiner led just such a life. He was what I'd call a "mensch," and I truly hope to be like him when I grow up.

GH: Classic Thread

I agree.
Broderick is talented and I'd love to see her at GH but I don't believe she has the stunt queen instinct Ron does. And while there was a lot about 2012 that was dreadful to watch live there was also a lot of eye-catching, exciting material that kept people glued to the show, both before and after the water crisis in the fall (the first reveal of the alive Robin and "Duke," the Faison reveal, the baby swap and the initial OLTL arrivals which did bring over viewers, the return of A.J., etc). A case can be made that the very OTT Connie mess also drew viewers even though I hated every moment of it.
I don't think it can be disputed that for better or worse Frank and Ron saved GH that year. And I don't know that that happens with Broderick.

They wanted to do that. Tony explicitly rejected it (and apparently loved the whole killing his parents thing). There were many problems with the writing in 2012-2015, but their first order of business was reuniting LNL and it was one of the first plans Tony killed (along with addressing Luke's alcoholism, which he subverted as they begin dealing with it by ad-libbing taking drinks at the Q mansion onscreen instead).

A good friend has been facing some setbacks and a group of us are rotating spending time with her -- mine was the last couple of days, which is why I haven't been on top of Geary, etc.

Aww thanks - it's so sweet that in 2025, generations can still talk about soaps and how they brought family together. My grandma always watched AMC, OLTL, GH every day... and I just visited her in her assisted living house yesterday and I was shocked to see she was watching Y&R and B&B on Paramount Plus. She doesn't have Hulu so I'm assuming that's why she doesn't watch GH, but I was shocked and happy to see she still watched soaps today.

This was really sweet to read. I watched GH initially because that’s what my mom, sister, and grandma watched whenever they could. It’s also why I didn’t watch AMC until the 90’s, because in my family as a kid it was OLTL, GH, and when it was still on, Edge of Night. My grandmother didn’t like AMC, so the habit wasn’t passed down.
