Looks like this poster on YouTube is going to be sharing some rare stuff.

Chris & Snapper never divorced and Bill Bell managed to keep them in story for several years without resorting to the usual affair story.I always thought the Sheila story could have played with Snapper & Chris years before it actually happened but psycho type stories weren't a part of Y&R in those days, In the 80's Bell started telling different storie than previously.

They forgot David Mallory, he was a man who received, I think, a cornea transplant, donated by Jill's father William who died the previous year (1976) Jill was engaged to him in 1977, just before she went back to work with Derek, which ended her engagement to David. I didn't realise, but apparently the Derek storyline started in 1976, but was abandoned and they tried it again a year later with Joe LaDue in the role. There were two other Derek's who only lasted a few weeks each in 1976.

Does anyone know who played David Mallory, I have never been able to find that out, he is never listed in cast lists for that year.

Also from what I remember Keith ended his relationship with Jill because Kay told him that Jill would never marry him, Keith then proposed and Jill took forever to give him an answer, he was convinced Kay was right and dumped Jill, she confronted Kay who felt somewhat guilty about what she had done and agreed to let Jill stay with her.

I have synopsis for Y&R from 1976 from SOD, all months except February. I can share if anyone wants. If someone has Feb which would be in the May issue, feel free to add it.

These are from SOD, but I didn't write them verbatim, also I am Australian, so some words will be spelt slightly differently.

1976

January

Leslie is having an exciting time in Paris with Lance and her concerts are well received by critics and audiences. Leslie has to remind herself that she is married. Brad encourages Leslie to see Paris, unaware that Lance is her guide. Lorie visits Brad and he tells her he figured out her connection to Mark. Lorie then learns from Stuart that Mark is working in a clinic in Cleveland and goes to see him. He is surprised to see her and that she knows they are brother and sister. She tells him they could still marry, if they don’t have kids. Mark tells her their love would have changed into something obscene and it is better they are apart. Greg and Snapper try to get Bill to Arizona, he changes his mind when he hears about Jill’s deal with Kay. He rushes to the hospital and begs her to break it. Jill refuses, she has taken the money and signed the papers, they will all be better off. He then goes to Kay, but she refuses, the baby is her whole life now. Unknown to Kay, Jill learns the baby has a fever and cannot leave the hospital. Snapper urges Jill to leave him, but she won’t until she knows he is out of danger. JoAnn excitedly prepares for her date with Jack. Brock has given her money for a new dress. She is showing it to Brock when Jack calls to break the date.

Peggy has called to ask Jack to help her prepare for an exam, though he mentioned having other plans, he agrees to cancel them to help her. Peggy is not surprised; she told Chris earlier that Jack is an honourable man. He even turned down her offer to go home with her. Chris tells Peggy to be careful, as she seems to be very vulnerable right now. Peggy has no idea that Jack is married even though at this moment he is readying himself for bed with his wife JoAnn. JoAnn wants to make love to Jack. He tells her he is tired and has to get up early in the morning. She tears up an old photo of her slimmer self and gorges herself. In the morning when Jack sees what she has done he tells her she needs to lose weight for herself, no one else. Leslie and Lance say their goodbyes as he parts for Athens, she thanks him for making Paris so incredible and hopes that he will meet her husband Brad and sister Lorie someday. Stuart tells Brad how kind he is to encourage Leslie’s career as not many men would. Jill finds out her baby is fine and will be released the next day. She heads home and tells her father to take the money and go to Arizona. Liz accuses Bill of standing in the way of Jill’s happiness. Jill tells him the discussion is over and never to mention the baby again, she then calls Kay and tells her to come by the hospital tomorrow to get the baby.

When Jill is at the hospital the next day and the nurse puts the baby in her arms, Jill realises she can never give him up. Jill brings the baby home and her family is delighted. Kay then turns up and demands she hand over the baby. Jill tries to make Kay take the cheque back, but she refuses and threatens to take Jill to court. Kay calls her attorney and leaves a message. Greg tells Jill that Kay has no case and could wind up being charged for trying to buy a baby. As Bill and Liz have started moving into their new place Kay’s attorney tells her the same thing Greg told Jill. Kay stops payment on the cheque and Bill and Liz lose their house. Kay blames Jill, Snapper and Greg for their parents’ loss. Kay plans to start drinking again, but Brock tells her the only way to let go of the pain and emptiness is to help the Foster’s. Chris feels left out of Snapper’s life and feels rejected when she brings up the idea of starting a family. Chris wonders if she would be better off going back to school. Brock comforts JoAnn who is heckled by two men at The Allegro. Brock tells JoAnn at least she is on her way to losing the weight, but JoAnn admits she has put it all back on. Brock tells her he will find a way of making sure she knows how beautiful she is. Peggy meets with Jack and is upset she got an -A on her test, she was told by a classmate that whenever Jack is in love with a girl she always gets an A. Jack explains that he didn’t grade her paper and assures her that he is in love with her. Jack warns Peggy not to fall for him, but she tells him it is too late.

Jill has hocked all her jewellery that Phillip gave her and asks Greg to initiate a lawsuit on her baby’s behalf for Phillip’s estate. Chris goes to the convent hoping to get the mother superior to sign a petition to get a crossing outside the local primary school. She is surprised to see Gwen Sherman, now Sister Magdelaine. Gwen explains she chose the name as Jesus found it in his heart to forgive Mary Magdelaine her sins. Chris tells her how wonderful she looks, Gwen explains that she is about to take her final vows and hopes that Sister Magdelaine is a better person than Gwen Sherman was. Chris tells her that Gwen was a very special person to begin with. Liz goes to Kay and asks for help as the family is struggling to pay the bills. She begs for her job at the Factory, but Kay offers her the job as her assistant instead, and needing the money Liz agrees. Kay also gives her money to pay for the bills that are overdue. Brock tries again to convince Kay to help the Foster family. This time he gets through to Kay and she decides to help. Kay plans to send Liz and Bill to Arizona, pay for a nurse to help Jill with the baby and give her a monthly allowance as well as set up a trust fund for the baby. Brock asks her if she still feels lonely, but Kay admits she has never felt more wonderful in her life. Greg draws up the papers for Jill and has them delivered to Kay who is furious and feels like a fool for thinking she could be accepted into the Foster family. Brock races to tell Jill what has happened, panicked she tries to get in touch with Kay as Bill curses his daughters impulsive actions.

March

Lorie finds herself remarkably comfortable with Lance on their trip home. She’s accused him of having inherited his wealth, and happy to learn he is a self made man, driven by the need to succeed. Lorie tells him about her soon to be published book and her needs for success. Lorie then owns up to her jealous rivalry of Leslie, Lance tells her Leslie would be happy with any success Lorie has. After telling him about her short relationship with Brad, Lorie asks Lance to stay in Genoa City for a few days, but Lance takes a rain-check. Stuart tells Brad of Peggy’s involvement with Jack, but defends Jack. Stuart believes that Jack unwittingly got caught up in the situation and is having great trouble removing himself from it. Brad tells Stuart that if Jack isn’t prepared to tell Peggy he is married, then Stuart must do it. Peggy is set to apologise to her father for her anger about him seeing Jack. Jennifer convinced her that Stuart was being a typical father who worries about his daughters. Stuart tells her that Jack isn’t the man for her, she presses for a reason and he finally tells her that Jack is married. Peggy refuses to believe it and runs off to confront Jack. Chris apologises to Jack for telling Stuart about his marriage. She explains that she was concerned for Peggy, but even more so for JoAnn as she doesn’t have the loving family that Peggy does to support her. When Peggy turns up later, Jack tries to explain he never meant to hurt her, Peggy doesn’t believe him and screams that he never gave a damn about her, and crying, she leaves.

Jill is shattered to hear Brock tell the court that Kay offered him money to marry Jill, not realising he is doing it to help her. Brock is deeply angry with Kay for hurting Jill and her family. While in recess as the Judge makes a ruling, Brock tells Kay she will be the loneliest woman in town as he plans to never see her again if she wins this case. Greg’s fears were justified. Jill looses her case against Kay. Jill blames her loss on being poor and feels Kay won because of her wealth and influence. Jill vows revenge on Kay. Brock goes to Kay and tells her he will no longer be apart of her life, he will use the money she gave him to support Jill and the baby. Kay informs him that she has closed the account in retaliation to him testifying against her. Jill arrives at Kay’s place and holds a paper bag with what looks like a weapon inside over her head and aims it at Kay. Kay begs for her life. Jill forces her to admit that Phillip Sr is the father of her son and frightened she concedes. Kay begs her not to hurt her, Jill sneers that she won’t, Kay will do that for her. She places the bag down and leaves. Kay opens the bag and is horrified to see a bottle of vodka. Peggy visits JoAnn who tells Peggy she knew about the affair, but begs Peggy not to tell Jack that she knew. Peggy agrees and tells JoAnn that she has no intention of ever seeing Jack again. Lorie tells Peggy that if she truly loves Jack she should fight for him. True love is hard to come by in this life. Peggy questions her about Lance, Lorie tells her that the only reason nothing happened is because Lance is clearly in love with Leslie.

While visiting with Brad, Lorie voices her concerns again about Lance and Leslie. Brad tells her there is nothing to worry about. Lance loves Leslie like any fan does. Lance later calls Brad and Leslie to invite himself for a visit and Leslie immediately plans to get Lorie and Lance together again. Lorie then sees her mother and tells her she will never let her forgot the pain she has caused her. Jennifer believes the success of her book will keep Lorie busy enough to forget about her mother, but Lorie plans to never forget and never let her forget either. Gwen is having a crisis of faith as she prepares to take her final vows. She can’t stop thinking about Greg. Snapper examines Gwen at the Mother Superior’s request and tells her that Sister Magdalene is heading for a nervous breakdown. Jill orders more vodka and has it sent to Kay. She then waits until Kay is inebriated enough and visits her, acting as if the last two years had never happened. She tells Kay that Phillip is still alive and is very upset with her. She tells her there is no baby, that things are as they were when Jill worked at the Chancellor estate. Liz learns that Jill sent alcohol to Kay and tells Jill to show some pity on the woman, but Jill refuses. She wants Kay to suffer as she has suffered.

Lorie tries to get Brock into bed, but he refuses and tells her everything he does now, he does for God. Lorie tells him “What a waste” Lance and Leslie had a dress-up candlelit dinner, interrupted by Lance’s phone call asking if they’d like to accompany him to Rome on a business trip. Leslie told him they couldn’t make it. While she was talking to Lance, Brad began having severe head pains, but recovered by the time Leslie returned. Lance then called Lorie and asked if she would come with him to Rome. Lorie, needing a distraction, agreed. Bill’s condition is improving, and while he can’t work, he would like to look after Phillip Jr. as other family members do. Snapper tells him it isn’t a good idea, he later berates him, for not listening and giving up smoking, when he talks about donating his organs so his life won’t be a complete waste. JoAnn tells Stuart that she is happy that Peggy has decided to stay away from Jack, she couldn’t live without him. Little does she know that Peggy has taken Lorie’s advice and she has resumed her affair with Jack. JoAnn feels motivated to start dieting again and makes an effort to get slim for Jack, not knowing that he and Peggy are getting closer and closer with each day and the possibility of JoAnn and Jack reconciling is becoming less and less.

Snapper examines Brad but can’t find anything wrong with him physically, but tells him to discuss his problems with Leslie. Brad refuses, especially on the eve of her tour. To cheer Lorie up, Brad buys her a smashing gown to wear for her trip to Rome. Lorie gives him a kiss for his efforts. He notes that the kiss was a little more than a sister in law should be giving and Lorie notes the dress is much sexier than a brother in law should be buying. Lance stops buy to see Leslie and she tells him she is planning a dinner for him and Lorie, and not to tell Lorie he stopped by. Lance does accidentally and hurt, Lorie gets out the dress Brad bought her. Lorie planned to cancel her trip with Lance, but without any encouragement from Brock she decides to go ahead. Lorie decides the only way to handle Lance is to be indifferent to him. Lance decides the same thing about Lorie and tells Leslie. Leslie knowing that her sister can’t stand to be ignored is fascinated by the outcome of their European trip. Gwen becomes more confused about her vocation. The more she sees Greg the more confusing it becomes. Greg is still in love with Gwen and convinces her to put off taking her final vows. Gwen goes to Mother Superior for advice and she tells Gwen not to go to God with half a heart. Jill is almost about to get what she wants from Kay, but Liz discovers what Jill has been up to and accuses her of trying to drive Kay insane. Jill tells her if she doesn’t exact her revenge on Kay she will be the one to go insane. Liz is appalled at her daughter’s behaviour, while Jill is appalled that her mother has returned to work for Kay.

I believe Gwen was the sister of Mitchell Sherman if I recall right. I've seen clips and eps online of Jennifer Leak as the hysteric psycho Olive on AW so I wonder how she was on Y&R in a completely different role. I believe there was also a another actress who played Gwen as well.

I've always been curious of how Victor and Jill would have worked in the long run. Not too long ago I was reading a piece on Y&R from I believe late '92/early '93 criticizing the scenes, with the author dismissing them as disgusting and didn't want to see Jill wasted.

Robert Gibson was the actor who played David. There are several actors of that name on IMDB and none list Y&R as a credit.

Never have been sure of the relationship (if any) between Mitchell and Gwen. I have never read of any connection, nor of another actress playing Gwen.

The other Dereks were Caleb Stoddard and Jeff Cooper. Apparently the Derek story was dropped for a while until LaDue came on. I wonder why they just didn't make him a new character.

April

Liz and Brock try to undo the evil Jill has done to Kay. Kay will accept the truth from neither of them. As a last resort, Brock takes Kay for a walk and leads her to Philip's grave. Kay reads the words on the tombstone and collapses sobbing. Les and Brad entertained Lance and Lorie at dinner after telling each other of their afternoon adventures. After dinner, Lance and Lorie are off to Rome and Stu has arrived at Brad's with Jen. All discuss Lorie and Lance and hope something will come of that relationship. Stu also mentions that Peg is off visiting a girlfriend in Madison. Lance continues his rude game with Lorie en route to Rome. The washroom door jams. Rather than help her, Lance suggests Lorie use some pots from the galley. Lorie is furious, Lance relents and asks Skip to fix the door. Later, the door jams on Lance, and Lorie delights in offering him the galley pans. Gwen has prayed for guidance and admits to Reverend Mother that she must leave the order. All Gwen can think of is Greg, and wants nothing more than to be a wife and mother. Snapper, worried about Greg and Gwen suggests that they not see each other. Gwen eases his mind when she tells him of her plans. Reverend Mother receives the release papers from the Archbishop for Sister Magdelene to sign. After Sister completes the severance formalities, she will be free to leave. Gwen would like to see the children once more before she leaves, but Reverend Mother refuses. Greg enters the convent with Ramon, a young mute boy who has been hit by a car, Gwen calls Snapper and holds the boy and prays, when he recovers he speaks for the first time and utters her name. As Ramon had never spoken before, Gwen is convinced this is the sign from God for her to keep her vocation. Gwen tells Greg she will now take her final vows and soon be on her way to nursing school in St. Louis. Brad has another attack, more severe than the last, but keeps it hidden from everyone.

Brad tells Leslie he can’t accompany her to Mexico for her concert as he needs to visit a family member in Chicago who is getting serious tests done. Brock has urged Jill to put aside her hatred and help Kay instead. Jill visits Kay, who is still confused but knows that Jill has a baby, though thinks Brock is the father and that Jill and Brock are still married. She begs Jill to bring her grandson to her. Jill agrees, after Kay promises to have a cheque waiting for the baby. Snapper is concerned about Bill being left alone to care for Phillip. He reminds Liz of his condition, adding that Bill is aware of this and plans to donate his organs when he dies. Liz confronts Bill and asks how a decent funeral can be held with parts of him missing. He tells her he doesn't want people staring at him in a casket. Lorie finds an eminent couturier displaying his designs on live models for Lance. Lance lets Lorie believe that the designs he buys are for Leslie. Lorie is furious and demands a ticket home. She relents when the dresses arrive as a gift for her, from Lance. As they're having an intimate moment in her suite, Lorie admits to wanting more from Lance than friendship. Bored and restless because of her clerical work at Legal Aid, Chris accepts a modeling job, despite Snapper's misgivings. The session seems to go well, but Chris is upset to realize that the photographer has locked the studio door and keeps a two-way mirror in the models' changing room. Snapper arrives, to Chris' great relief, to take her home. At home, Snapper tells her that anytime she needs him, he will be there.

Though they spar quite a bit, Lorie and Lance are closer by the time they reach Mexico to see Leslie. Leslie's music is being affected by her concern for Brad. She inadvertently learned that Mrs. Eliot is not sick after all, but she has not learned the reason why Brad was unable to accompany her to Mexico. Stu and Jen are each concerned about Peggy and her involvement with Jack. Stu is hoping that Peggy will find a way to be happy without Jack. When they discuss the issue, she is non-committal. Jack tells Peggy that once JoAnn has lost weight and has more self esteem he will leave her, she will be better off without him by then too. Brock offers to arrange the work schedules to suit JoAnn if she will go back to school as her husband suggested. He even offers to set up a loan to pay for her tuition. She decides, hesitantly, to discuss it with Jack who, she thinks, still loves her. Jill's baby is hurt during an emotional scene between a spiteful Jill and a drunken Kay. Later, Jill seems to resolve to put the baby's welfare above all else after Snapper tells her Phillip will be okay. In a desperate attempt to prevent Kay's self-destruction being laid on Jill's conscience, Bill begs Kay to stop drinking and smoking, he feels she is attempting a slow suicide. It may be the last thing he will ever do, but he is determined to succeed. Taking Chris's advice, Bill proposes marriage to Liz. Liz is a very proper lady, and perhaps she feels he is a stranger; he is certainly a different man from the one who deserted her nine years ago.

At the Chancellor house, and with Kay listening in, Bill tells Liz of his love and his fervent desire that they make a fresh start and begin a new life. Too stunned to answer, Liz makes no reply. She is further rocked on her heels later when Sam Powers visits. He asks her again to marry him, and for the second time that day, she is unable to voice a reply. Leslie is able to sublimate her intense worry about Brad, and plays the best music of her career. Her thrilling success is, for her, hollow without Brad. Brad is in the hospital. He must undergo further tests to find out what the problem is. Barbara Anderson visits. When Brad explains that he cannot tell Leslie of his medical worries because he is trying to protect her from all the hurt, Barbara tells him that his love for Leslie is a wonderful, beautiful thing. Peggy and Jack decide to have one wonderful, glorious night out to celebrate their plans to marry. They refer to it as the night they will always remember. JoAnn overheard them in his office, and immediately went home to take an overdose of pills. Brock, coming to tell her that his mother will lend her the money to return to school, arrives in time to get Jo to the hospital, where she is pulled back from the brink of death. It is a return she makes unwillingly. Jack and Peggy, meanwhile, are at the same restaurant as Stu and Jen. Peggy's father is unhappy with her avowal to marry Jack. Later, Stu is informed of Jo's attempted suicide and he rushes to the hospital. Jo asks him not to let Johnny know; she wants his love, not his pity. Peggy, furious at finding her parents waiting up for her, is horrified when Stu tells her that JoAnn tried to take her own life.
