I could see Josh Taylor as An Older Leading Man if He Still Was Chris Kositchek, An Older Charming Barrister, With A Flavour For Younger Women (Loved When Billie And Him were Playing Husband and Child-Bride back in the 1990's

) and The Better Life, kinda Like Paul Robinson from Neighbours, I think He would've even been a better Match for Kate Then! I have a hard time Believing Kate would settle for Running A Pub, but then They changed that lol

I get where you are going and it would work for Chris.  But it doesn't work for Roman.  I also found Billie/Roman and then randomly Roman/Nicole super creepy lol.  Roman is just a different character than Chris in almost all the ways.  It will always be a mystifying casting decision

I had no idea they tried him with Nicole!

For me The worst part was knowing he would eventually be involved with Kate, Billie's Mother, I overall only saw them pretending to be a couple while helping Hope investigate her past as Gina and Found it funny, Especially Josh putting on his JR Ewing impersonation lol

The talk about who could lead to show made me realize Eric Martsolf is older now than Macdonald Carey was when the show started, which is a bit of a mindfreak.

Of course, if we're going by that the character that should have been poised to take that mantle is Dr. Mike Horton. It's so said TPTB on most shows struggle with the characters that are "supposed" to take over. It rarely ever happens properly.

I am sure Josh Taylor is the Ken Corday preference, but, at this point in time, Wayne Northrop is needed to be in the role. Not to mention, I do think he & Lauren Koslow would still work as Roman & Kate.

And if Mac Scorpio on General Hospital can work at the PCPD, then it is high-time that Roman returns to the Salem PD.

I vote for Abe as the patriarch.  Not only is it rare for a soap to have a Black patriarch, but Abe is also not compromised by prior sexual relationships.  His adjunct father-figure role with Nicole could easily be replicated with both Holly and Ava.  He is a morally upstanding guy, and he's not a marble-mouth like Roman.

He is Horton-adjacent through Eli.  It would be nice if he and Paulina got a bigger place to live, and holidays could be celebrated at their home.

They did re-hire Wayne as another character in 2005 and that was a huge mistake.  I would prefer that Alex North was just forgotten.   They even used old Roman/Marlena flashbacks for that story which was tacky.

As for why I'd re-hire Wayne as Roman, I think I've explained my reasoning in multiple posts and I still think it would be a nice ending for Marlena.  To be absolutely honest, I would have made John the actual Roman instead of hiring Josh Taylor period.

    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun!
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
    • On this day 34 years ago the final episode of Dallas and came in at an astonishing #2 in the ratings after two straight seasons of weak ratings. Interesting Knots was #27 for that week as well:

    • Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't watching GL regularly yet at that point, but seems to me I should have remembered the big wedding after Leslie's death (which I do remember) described in the profile. Is there a web archive of SOD summaries, or are referring to your own personal collection?
    • I was bummed that 2.0 ended because Mcpherson (headwriter) had really set up some interesting stories and we never got to find out where the stories would go once they resumed production on 'season 2'. I remembered the EP (Ginger Smith) and a lot of the stars gave a lot of credit to McPherson being able to come in on very short notice and come up with stories/plots (I think it was a very short turnaround time of a few weeks).  It was nice that she got to redeem herself after her year long Days stint was not well reviewed/liked.

    • It seems like a setup for failure to review a single episode of a soap, but Cleveland Amory was a foolish man.  His taste was so predictable, that one wondered why bother reviewing a medium he so clearly disliked. (found on Facebook retro TV group) Another case in point of his misogyny from his review of Dark Shadows (Can you imagine the magazine with the widest circulation in the country insulting its customer in this way today?)

    • They could easily be re-created, or even re-shot in different ways, especially if they were re-shooting scenes at some point, as well.
    • The Ted recast really is a shame because now they won't be able to do flashbacks to the best scenes the show has done to date.
    • That would be an AMAZING twist.
