I doubt they considered it. They just didn't want him to know until he absolutely had to.

It's SOP for ABC to lie to actors when asked a direct question about a character's future. Any actor who gets a script like that shouldn't waste time asking questions. They should trust their gut and start stealing toilet paper and coffee from the supply closet.

They didnt consider ish, they just lied to him til the very end. And that is def bullish that they figure out a way to write him out of jail 4 shooting the Commish It's a soap for pete's sake

If Todd Manning could be a free man after re raping Marty, then it should have been easy to get Schuyler out of jail. Couldn't he plea temporary insanity?
