How does she think the family will feel about Kirk's renaming everything after her? he asks pointedly. It's like renting the world's biggest billboard to announce that she's Kirk's mistress, Caleb adds. My reputation is besmirched, Ellie laments. Iva tells Kirk, just you wait and see. Ellie's as selfish as he is.

LOVE ME LIKE A MAN:

Bob learns that Susan's been popping those sample painkillers the hospital gives out. He can't find her; she's left town. He calls Dr.Matthews, who tells Bob that Susan's brooding about an emotional involvement, but not her relationship with John. Bob asks Margo to help him track her down, but Margo can't. Susan went on vacation; she wasn't kidnapped. On a hunch, the detective makes a discreet call to Foxwood and finds that Susan is registered. Bob calls the lodge several times, but Susan doesn't answer. Finally, while Kim and John are driving Andy to his rehabilitation program, Bob shows up at the lode, demanding to know why she didn't answer the phone. Susan admits she's fallen in love with him. Bob takes her in his arms. Susan tells him that she'll destroy his life. She doesn't want his pity. That's not what he's feeling, Bob says. He pulls her into a kiss.

She offers to talk to Eric about hiring Clarke back.

Sam is aghast, while Jessica can't hide her devilish grin. "How'd you manage this one?" Sam asks Jessica when Jordan leaves. "Why, Sam, dear, I haven't the faintest idea what you mean," Jessica replies. "You lying witch. Well, two can play at this game," Sam threatens.

In the meantime, Jordan sets up Sam to smuggle another painting- this time from Paris, France. Jordan instructs his cohort, Reginald, to let him know when the painting is ready. Jessica tells Jordan that she remembers Reggie from Las Vegas, and that she knows he's not a building contractor, but an unsavory character. When Jordan tries to deny it, Jessica tells him to save his breath. "You can trust me," Jessica assures her boss. Later, Sam confides in Kyle that she thinks Jessica is holding something over Jordan's head.

Both Harley and Alan-Michael are too proud to admit that their night together meant anything. She was only tricking him into forgiving her so she would get at his money, Harley lashes out. Meanwhile, Alan-Michael is still worried that Harley, as well as Blake, is pregnant. He asks Alex for his trust fund.

AND THEY"RE OFF:

Once Sam imagines a life without Dylan, she rushes to him to make amends and they reunite. Reva buys a sixty-thousand-dollar car for Sam and Dylan to elope in, then buys Sam a wedding dress. Reva goes over the plans with the couple one more time before the exhilarated kids hit the road. First stop: a jewelry store to buy rings. Back in Springfield, Harley has noticed that Sam and Dylan are missing and is suspicious of their whereabouts. Determined to find out what's going on, Harley reads Sam's journal and lets out a scream. Jealous, she wastes no time blowing the whistle on the would-be newlyweds, and Reva vainly tries to prevent Ross, Josh and Billy from going after them. Meanwhile, Harley notifies Dylan's parole officer that he is leaving the state.

YOU CAN'T FIGHT CITY HALL:

Gary needles Neil about the building collapse and his hostility toward Phillip. Neil decides to find out just what information Gary has on him. Phillip offers to help with the homeless shelter, and he and Alex clash at this open support of Lewis Oil. Spaulding will build a bigger, better homeless shelter in another area of town, Roger insists. This one is not needed. At the zoning board meeting, Blake comes through for her father when she pulls out blueprints proving that Lewis Oil started conversions on the warehouse before they were given zoning permission. Nadine, who stole them, feels guilty. Billy's impassioned plea to the zoning board falls on deaf ears, and Spaulding emerges victorious: the shelter will not be built, and waterfront land values will not diminish.

A NEW SPAULDING HEIR:

Beth is fearful for her baby when Dr. Sedwick calls and wants to see her as soon as possible. As she anxiously awaits word, Beth tells her mother that she feels guilty for wishing that she would only have ever carried Phillip's baby. Beth braces herself for bad news about the baby, but she's stunned by Dr. Sedwick's news: he couldn't detect a heartbeat because the baby was much younger than he originally though. It's Phillip's baby!

MUCH ADO ABOUT ROGER:

Holly decides to confront Ross about why he was at Vanessa's. Ross turns the conversation to her: she will lose him if she does not face her feelings for Roger.... Billy and Hamp try not to look skeptical when Ruth Price tells them about her dream of the Lewises really having control of the tower and the waterfront. Roger, however, is uneasy when Ruth gives him a warning to the same effect.

Ah, the Casey the Alien story. That had charm to it and an innocence about it. It's too bad soaps these days take themselves so seriously that they are afraid of all genre material. Or maybe it is soap fandom. A little fantasy or science fiction once in a while is not so horrible.
