RHOP

I don't see what everyone else was talking about online. This episode was better than the last episode we got before the break IMHO.

The tension has been building since the DnA event where Gizelle started to shade Mia about her storyline of two men. And the audience definitely did not like Mia speaking on Gizelle's kids, either. But Ooooooo at the OGs slowly, but surely turning against Mia and started to gang up on her at the end of the episode. Chef's kiss to me. And mind you...it was Stacey and Keiarna stirring the pot that led to said gang-up. I was only sorry that Jacqueline Mia's representative jumped in and the ladies pulled back.

And while the fun...outside of the dancing...in the last episode were like meh, I felt this was more fun. We still got scenery and fashion, but there was more genuine moments. Wendy and the hat. Seeing the La Dame/Gizelle friendship on full display...still giggling at 'Smooth Criminal.' The intimation game was cute. And then the walk to the next spot with La Dame posing in the door...just fun.

LA DAME. Outside of Jacqueline's dig 'we're not driving, right, Karen?' and the fact it did seem like she was wearing her DUI wig, there was no sign of a hint of the DUI case. I was worried how I would see her in light of the video again...but it felt weirder to just see her...being her. I did enjoy her, though. That door posing. Her and Gizelle together and getting along. She even showed a 'little bit' of grace during the gang-up. And she is still giving out tea cuz...did we always know that Karen used to be married before Ray?

GIZELLE. Lord she stay playing chess, don't she? Yeah, she should have gone even harder at the dinner table in the gang-up. That said...she got Mia good when she said that if Mia was going to start on her kids ON CAMERA, she better bring that apology ON CAMERA, too. And she was angry and you could see it. And she was not backing down until the waterworks started. And given her unfollow of Mia and the forthcoming reunion...I'm curious to see what she does next. Extra mention to her minion...I mean Ashley...also calling Mia out earlier in the episode. Meanwhile...Gizelle was...fun throughout.

WENDY. She got her little bit in on Mia, too. Everyone else would like to forget Miami, but she definitely picks her moments to remind folk. Other than that, she did keep it fun and has been a great host for the trip. There has been some drama, but it has not at all gotten toxic.

ASHLEY. 'Say less.' I KNOW MISS ASHLEY DIDN'T!!!! lol. She came out to play this episode. Because how well she stayed on Mia's neck (while Stacey stayed on hers) should be studied. This was the Ashley I used to know and I enjoyed every moment of it. From her questioning Mia about the Tale of the Missing Kids (That Weren't) to her saying the above when Mia got offended she was checked to her shade, shade, shading Mia every chance she could get in her Confessionals, she did not let up. And Mia is NO La Dame when it comes to confronting Ashley.

STACEY. She was a hoot as per usual. And I continue to love how she stays on Ashley's neck. And SAME about her opinion about Mia's blond hair...which as most people know here...I feel exactly the same. And we got a brief check in on TJ. I was only sorry that she was falling for Mia's lies.

KEIARNA. Thank you for the flashback, Production.

Other than that, it was interesting to see how her and Stacey started that whole Mia gang-up. Since Keiarna was concerned for Ashley all day only to set Mia vs Ashley in motion. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the tea on her lawsuit with Sesame Street.

MIA. Le sigh. Even I was sitting there watching this episode and taking popshots at her. Cuz how could she set up that G might have run off with the kids without checking in with the nanny or friend or whomever it was. Or even without calling her kids. It just came across like a stunt...right down to her trying to cry (to no avail) on camera. And since she was not mentioning it, no wonder everyone is giving her the side-eye...making it perfect for Ashley to start poking holes in her narrative. And then that tea about Jacqueline and Inc...just made it the perfect opening for the gang-up that came for her. I will still give her this much...in the part of the gang-up that was her vs Gizelle...she wasn't wrong either. Good, bad, ugly...Mia has put it all out there. However...NOW...it has become too much because it does not give 'in on the joke.' It gives...GROSS. Worse, she has doubled down, not taking her licks. She continues to play this game oh so wrong. And the OGs? OVER HER.

A good episode. And next week...even with the Jacqueline/Ashley stuff...still looks good. So I feel a bounceback in energy coming.

Mia has to be fired. The way she's behaving about Gordon, their children, and Ink, is insane.

BH

Another great episode.

Something has happened to Kyle's lower face. Her lips are looking weird.

Love an appearance from Martyn Lawrence Bullard in Erika's hacienda. He is this glamorous confection and is a genuinely nice guy.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard was on Bravo's Million Dollar Decorators back in the day (I'm talking early seasons of RHONY and RHOA back-in-the-day!) which was a great show. He was my favorite interior designer on it, even if his more-is-more style isn't my personal preference. I especially loved his clenched-teeth almost-nervous-breakdowns about 3 minutes before the Hollywood star was due to visit the finished home.

And to all LA-based people here, I hope you are safe. These Palisades fires are very scary and winds are still extremely high.

RHONY

Brynn is the Mia Thornton of that franchise

Totally agree. She is flatout calling Gordon an unfit father and has been proclaiming him to be disturbed with random bouts of bipolar manic episodes. If thats true, WTF would you leave them alone with him while you leave the country? This has got to be the most cringeworthy storyline bc its so uncomfortable to watch. NO ONE is here for her and her antics

Brittani had ANOTHER announcement last night and she had me DYING. I dont care what anyone says. She's iconic and needs a snowflake next year. She's generated so much material for the producer and women to work with. She had them activated but she handled herself well when a weaker bish would have been ran off. Respect

Hi y'all!

Been out on holiday break and now busy busy playing catch-up at work and life.

I too was hit with the bug. In fact, here it was late 2024 and I finally got Covid! Same with the hubby. As far as I know, it's the first time I ever had it and boy was it a doozy!

Shall we do a Best & Worst of 2024, January Edition? Man, I gotta think back to the first half of last year...

Edit: Karen Huger's peeps are saying she could not attend the reunion because she has entered a private recovery program.

Yeah, I was going to say what my favorite poster online says. If she is not at the reunion because she's in rehab...I'm fine with that. Otherwise...

ETA: Sorry to hear you two got the bug we all seem to have gotten. And you are doing well.

Yeeees! She is so relatable this season and reminds me of a good Sex and the city episode where there is this one friend that keeps it real. Her fake-persona while she was with that man... was HELL though.

    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.

    • A little too much focus on Chad and Cat today but I enjoyed the episode. I have a feeling that Jennifer’s gonna get dumped on though, even though I think that her anger is completely understandable and justified. And honestly, Ron is finally gone; Abigail can come back now.  But, welcome back, Anna! It was nice seeing Carrie have scenes with her mother. Christie Clark and Leann Hunley have never really had that many scenes together and to see them have them now is really nice. I’m glad that both of them were there to comfort Marlena too. Their words were definitely the thing that Marlena needed to hear. Btw, with all this talk of Noah, does it mean that he’s gonna be introduced soon? Amy, revealing that John changed her flat tire many years ago seemed a little random though. I would rather she have said something about how everybody in Salem knows of John Black because of how he was always such a hero. But at the same time, her story also showed what a great guy John was.  I liked Kate’s scenes with Philip too, and her promise to get back at Xander for what he did. And since we didn’t see JPL in the bed, did he need some time off or something? And yeah, everything involving ‘One Stormy Night’ still seems very Ron-like to me.
    • The second photo featuring the late John Spencer is from the Law & Order episode, "Prescription For Death", which was the (second) pilot/first episode all the way back in 1990! He played the father of a daughter that had gone to the ER for a mere sore throat but ended up dead because the doctor on call was drunk and had given her medication that she had an adverse reaction to, after receiving some other medication. So, he will always have that great distinction in addition to The West Wing. (The first pilot, "Everybody's Favorite Bagman", was filmed in 1988! The show was offered to CBS, but they passed. In syndication, it is oddly placed as the sixth episode of Season 1. And Roy Thinnes played DA Alfred Wentworth there. When NBC picked up the show two years later, Thinnes declined to return, and that's how we got Steven Hill's DA Adam Schiff.)
