Dancing with the Stars: Season 10

Maybe next season they should go the softcore porno route that apparently Argentina's version of the show takes. I have NO idea what dance style this is meant to be (oh yeah and it's perhaps not safe for work):

HOLY [!@#$%^&*] ! 2:05!

Never ever ever on ABC owned Disney and Bergeron's lame sex jokes would be unbearable, but wow, they are on to something here. If they had Dancing with the Porn Stars on Playboy TV with girls like Jenna Haze, Ice LaFox and Phoenix Marie dancing like this perhaps they wouldn't have to chase a female demo. Throw in Ron Jeremy as the comedic jerry Springer type contestant, Peter North as our David Hasselhoff.

Hahah to be fair, trying to do a bit of research, the format there (which is taken from a tamer Mexican show) is slightly different (apparently everyday people get to dance with pro dancers--I have NO idea which one of these was the pro and which not--I'm guess the guy was the "regular person" though). And two of the categories in the show--in terms of type of dance--are pole dancing and strip tease. But even the host seemed shocked by this. LOL

But you know, I think youw ere joking, but I almost wonder why some soft core porn channels haven't caught on to something similar--they do seem to eternally be trying to get programming that women will watch with their guys (like that awful soft core Eden soap that ATWT hired the writers from)

Yeah, I was actually serious. Ha, and I totally assumed the girl was the celeb and the guy was the professional but looking at him, yeah, maybe not. How could they even score him with the focus completely on her?? It's funny though, imagine like Miss "Skating with the Stars" champion Rebecca Budig in that outfit (or lack thereof) doing that kinda stuff! But there was a thread a few months back about Playboy (BOY, not girl!) TV revamping to appeal to female viewers which folks like me and All My Shadows found so incredibly stupid. Guys would watch the above. I don't know if you get it in Canada, but G4 is a cable channel that's sort of like Spike TV, a "guy's" channel or whatever and they do lame porny stuff hosted by adult film stars every now and then. It's on basic cable so it's just a big ol' tease, but a premium like Playboy could do well with something like this.

We get Spike but I think G4 is only on satelite here--I've heard of it, but...

But I agree--to be honest I think hardcore porn (this is so not on topic) is useless on TV now anyway with the internet. So if they want to get eyeballs by sleazy sex and skin, stuff like this frankly would be the way to go--and I could see a lot of (younger especially) guys *and* girls watching it, picking faves, etc. As long as they kept it on the right fun side of sleazy, it seems like a natural and I'm kinda surprised no one's thought of it. (Is there a Playgirl channel? LOL)

Hhaha, who, me? Do you mean same sex couples on Dancing with the Stars or on this soft core porn version? :P

I dunno, I know Dancing has long been rumoured ot have a same sex couple, but I think it can cause problems. In legit ballroom, there always has to be a guy and a girl and they play distinct roles. Would they switch it up (who leads, who follows, etc) each week? How would they judge in comparison? There are same sex ballroom competitions but they just compete with themselves...

(and yeah, the guy shoulda taken off more ;) )

I read somewhere that the show which did that isn't a licensed DWTS show, but I'm not sure.

This is fairly common in certain countries. If you look up something like "Stripdancing" in Youtube you will find a number of videos from these shows. I looked at a few of those after this video first started making the rounds. Most of them don't go quite as far as that did, as the women always have their breasts covered by pasties or whatever, but they go pretty far. Usually the men show more than that guy did - they go down to a thong. There's one with a bath/shower and gyrations and groping and such that would put porn to shame.

Yes, there's a Playgirl and a Playboy channel. Actually, I don't know if they're exactly "channels". We just got a new provider recently, but with our old provider, on the On-Demand channel Playgirl and Playboy were both listed under pay-per-view. Playgirl produced stuff pops up on HBO/Showtime/Skinemax late-nights, the more soft-coreish stuff we grew up with. Lady porn is less graphic and heavy on the lit candles and rain machines. :P

They could totally appeal to both men and women by having both sexes scantily clad and dancing. Women who are offended by the more graphic stuff could still get with this and as long as there were plenty of shots like in the clip above, men could too (especially younger ones as Eric said, the ones who have no business watching  ). But yeah, with the internet, one can always just cut to the chase. The real draw here would be the celebrity/"fantasy" factor.

Yeah Carl, as I said, but wasn't very clear, it's connected to a Mexican show that's slightly different (real people with pro dancers, etc). Bailando por un Sueno

But yeah one of the categories is Strip Tease so I guess it's fair--an Argentinan friend says the show IS controversial and that episode was seen as going too far (hence I guess the host's Oh Nooos at the end). The show's do have tango, etc as well though.

Yeah here in Canada where the networks are far less restricted, a number of them show soft core crap after 11 on weekends (one channel advertises "The Baby Blue Movie" lol which is sponsored by a singles phone line)--basically stuff like Red Shoe Diaries style (as a kid I was always disappointed that that meant you saw very little of the men except their butts :P ). So we get some of the Playboy (or girl?) tv movies, etc. One Vancouver station also has a "naked" cooking show which is pretty ridiculous (particularly since the good parts are covered by aprons, but they make a lot of both the woman and guy turning around toget things, etc).

It's funny, in a sexuality and film class I did we studied a lot of the soft (and sometimes hard) core films of the 70s when they briefly tried having "real" porn chic stuff. much of it is crap--Caligula and messes like that, though I found some surprisingly witty (R Metzger--who I guess was kinda the king of these kinds of movies--did a very graphic bisexual sex comedy called Score that still plays like a much better film than any of these recent cable attempts). Not that I think films should be more adult--even if I think some experiemnts liek Shortbus have more or less been successful, but most of the struff for stations like Playboy seem to really have no even attempt at imagination or trying something new (including a stripper dance with the stars lol).

How on Earth did I get on this rant.

Hmmm...man we have more in common than I thought. I felt the same way as a kid when I watched too.

And where is this sexuality/film class??? Where do I sign up for it??....heehee

BTW, here's an example of one of their pole dancing entries (guys should never wear red underwear) http://www.tu.tv/videos/nazarena-velez-cano

Hahah well I think prob a lot of (gay) guys did that with male nudity on tv and film :P

You'll have to go to McGill in Montreal. (or prob a hundred other schools--it was a popular course)

    • When I was a kid, I would watch DOOL with my mom. I remember Denise as Susan so well. And later, of course, on GH. How sad to hear she has passed. RIP.
    • I have to dig that scene up on YT. I'm glad they gave them some kind of happy ending, even if it was really late. Interesting! I remember Justin and Sarah being involved, but I either forgot or never caught their backstory. The girl with money and social position of course turns out to be Jackie. He sort of did to Sarah what Vanessa did to his brother! I do remember Justin started out as not the greatest guy. Kind of a horn dog. It's only when Ross comes on that he becomes the "good" brother. I only have some vague memories of Ben and Hope, mostly of when they were in a positive relationship. He certainly changed over time. "Chill" would be the way I would describe Ben (along with "handsome but kind of a yawn") for most of his time on GL, so hearing he once had a violent temper is very surprising.
    • Yes. That's called good writing.
    • interesting idea.  That makes sense, as MVJ seems to have set up each character development (traits) for future plot developments.
    • I really enjoyed today's episode. It showcased a lot of the other cast and I saw hints of storyline potential (Smitty & Bill). Martin definitely has some anger issues and I recall him being overly scared about protecting his family and having all the doors locked, coming out of one of his "dreams". There's obviously a lot going on there and I can't wait to find out more. I'm thinking June is going to be more than just the issue story of the week. I think she just might be related to one or more of our main characters. As for Tomas, yes, Alex Alegria is not the strongest actor, but he's pretty to look at and he emotes something. I'm just not sure what that something is yet.
    • No. Absolutely No. I don't know who this is... since it's just some random Twitter quote... But NO. The only parallel between OG Caroline's leukemia and Liam's tumor... is that they are both having cancer. That's it. Other than that... I see absolutely no similarities.  Caroline hid her sickness almost till the last moment. She was also giving the viewers signs that she is not well for days if not weeks before the diagnosis. It was not like Liam... falling down and hitting his head on a table and bam he has a tumor. Caroline's storyline broke our hearts, because of her attempt to live out the rest of her days with dignity and grace. It was written slowly and with care. What we are seeing right now with Liam is the complete opposite. It's begging the viewers for empathy and cheap tears. It's so in your face and trashy... I can't believe they are using cancer for something like this. Bradley Bell should never do terminal stuff again in his stories. It's borderline offensive to people who actually have lost relatives to cancer. To me it is.
    • I was thinking that June could be Kat's mother and Eva is Nicole and Ted's.
    • You won't even miss her because Nola will be dominating the show till Raven comes back. Literally... there will be no boring second. Nola is just starting. You won't believe what will follow. Haha. And then as soon as that storyline is finishing up, Raven is back in top form.
