December 16, 200916 yr Member http://www.welovesoaps.net/2009/12/conard-fowkes-has-passed-away-at-age-76.html Not that long ago I was watching a Dark Shadows DVD from around the time they were just starting to go into the supernatural element, and two lawyer characters were introduced, father and son. The father was played by Hugh Franklin, and the son, Frank Garner, was played by Conrad Fowkes. In the end he wasn't on the show for that long, he was just a brief confidant for Victoria Winters, but they did interview Conrad on one of the DVDs. He also played on Hidden Faces, Secret Storm, Edge of Night. Probably his most recent role was as Don Hughes on ATWT. Here's a brief clip of his return for the 30th anniversary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9-HYnKZjRU His work on DS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZ3xx1oeTc0 Edited December 16, 200916 yr by CarlD2
December 16, 200916 yr Member Oh I hoped Conrad Fowkes and Rosemary Prinz would come back as Don and Penny for the finale.
December 16, 200916 yr Member This is so bizarre. I also recently began catching up on some of the early Shadows shows via the mini-episodes on youtube, and just the other day I checked imdb to see if Conard was still alive. Very sad...RIP! I thought he came across as very likeable on Shadows.
December 16, 200916 yr Member I think ATWT fans sometimes forget how lucky we are to have such a core of veterans that are healthy and active. Even if we don't see them as often as we like.

Yeah, that we can even get to see Nancy onscreen, still acting, occasionally, and still get to see great work from Bob, Kim, Lucinda, Lisa, etc. is something which wouldn't have happened on a lot of shows. And that we can still hope Ellen, John, or Penny could return, if this show actually cared about bringing them back. The ATWT vets seem to have a real longevity which you won't always get at shows. I don't know how they do it. I wish they'd brought Don back during the Ryder story, that was a missed opportunity.
December 16, 200916 yr Member Don't forget Marie Masters---who's fabulous at 68. It's amazing to realize the rest are in their seventies now.

They show her so rarely I keep forgetting her I do love her. I can't believe she's 68. I know you aren't supposed to "look" any age but she looks 10-15 years younger to me.
December 18, 200916 yr Member Funny I looked up the Donald Hughes profile on SOC out of curiosity it lists his final airdate as being in December 1995. I know Ryder came on around the time Jeremy Wheeler left but I don't remember really Don Hughes coming out of the wood work then.
