Let's look at this completely plot driven story. Ashley, a woman in her late 40s who was told she could no longer have children gets pregnant. She is in and out of the hospital her first couple months. Adam scares Ashley on the stairs causing her to miscarry and burns the fetus in the fireplace and cleans up Ashley.

He lucks out because she seems to have no bleeding, cramping or infection after her miscarriage and develops hysterical pregnancy, and he just happens to have some dirt on a renowned OB that he can threaten to lie about Ashley's miscarriage. And of course, Ashley conveniently argues with Olivia at the same time so she will no longer be monitoring Ashley, and then Ashley with her high risk pregnancy goes the rest of the way having one sonogram on a lap top with no amnio or additionally testing done? Why isn't Ashley going to the hospital for weekly checks?

Now Sharon will conveniently faint right after giving birth and Adam will be able to get his hands on her child because Ashley will be having her baby at the exact same time and voila he makes the switch. Adam must be the luckiest SOB in the world.

Plot contrived nonsense and the sad thing is that fans have known this switch was going to happen for months, the writers know the fans do not want this story and so what do they do? They go ahead and write it.

I am starting to think that MAB and company actually want to destroy this show, so it will be cancelled in a few years.

You know what is really happening.

Lauren (your Lauren!) drove Y&R (and B&B) ratings to an all-time high with her baby switch story (Sheila steals Scotty and replaces him with Dylan). B&B really came into its own with the subsequent cross-over.

Just as amnesia is a proven "ratings builder", they're just doing what they can to try some desperate way (like Sudden Impact and Kay's kidnapping) to spike the ratings in a different direction and change the momentum.

I'm actually fine with this if it is well done. The Sheila-Lauren baby switch was ART, dragged out forever. Alas, I have little confidence that we're in for such ART again.

Of course that is always the goal when they are desperate however as stated many times over it's been overly done is unneccessary and is repelling more and more audiences. Anyway it's Y&R's funeral.

*Edit* I already see the writing. The purpose of the baby swap will be to take Sharon a bit out of Phick's realm while playing on the "beats" of them sharing another daughter unknowingly and later on Play Ashley and the Abbots possibly Victor against Sharon & Nick. Either way am not holding my breath for good storytelling

I believe I coined that phrase!!! Honestly, it's like taking away the Coca-Cola, Pepsi branding overnight without telling anyone and replacing it with Sam's Club...nothing wrong with Sam's Club, but it's certainly not as nameworthy as Coca-Cola or Pepsi. No one goes into any establishment and say, can I have a large Sam's Club please with lots of ice!! I guess at least the characters' names have remained the same, sort of!!

I know that this might be off topic but someone brought up Scotty. Whatever happened to that character? The last time I remember seeing him on screen was back during the whole Phylis/Sheila storyline. I would much rather have him back than the newly introduced Fisher brother. I think that Zack Conroy (James, GL) would be a good recast.

Oh, thank you, thank you for saying this - I thought I was the only one. I think the reason we are not feeling any emotional connection is because Sharon is NOT actually excited about the baby itself, she is using and more excited about using the baby to reel Nick in. No plans about how she wants to prepare for the baby, what kind of baby furniture to buy, nothing said about when she gets out how she is looking forward to seeing her baby, it's all about NICK and what it means for her and NICK. What he have here is a subtle (well not to me anyway), is a classic case of a woman trying to steal back the man she think she OWNS and IS HERS by any means necessary and making it look to the MEN especially Nick like she is sacrificing something. I actually find it pretty funny and almost clever because the men don't see it but Phyllis is so onto her. I find it hilarious that the only time she rubs the stomach is around Nick or Phyllis, no one else...hahahahaha!! Now this s/l is actually soapy.

I want to care about the "amoeba" and what a very good friend of my calls "the incubator"..well as you can see from my comments, no emotional connection for me. And what's even worse is they are not even showing Nick with any emotional connection either- at least not anywhere in the same sense he showed w/Phyllis. He's showing something sure but it comes off in a very odd way. And heck, we don't even see Noah, Sharon's other child connecting with his mother at all about this baby either. No scenes with him being excited about the baby, talking to Eden about the baby..talking to anyone about the baby really. He still thinks it's Jack but that should not matter.

Not quite sure I completely believe this "spoiler" in its entirety anyway because my every instincts tell me that nothing will be as it seems..well in this instance anyway. This s/l is so full of holes but I think the writers deliberately plotted those holes.
