Susan Boyle: I Dreamed A Dream

  • Members

Susan Boyle's debut album will be released November 23, 2009 called I Dreamed A Dream. A thread here already includes her debut single, Wild Horses, which has amazing vocals, and the album will also be including "Memory," "Cry Me A River," "You'll See" and, of course, "I Dreamed A Dream." The album is already #1 in pre-sales. Wikipedia also says she'll be doing a promo tour in the States in November--which I am so not missing--and I hope it's true. Can't wait for this album!

It's Madonna's You'll See, right?

Does anyone know with which orchestra she recorded it and who did the orchestral arrangements?

It's sort of faux-casual, like you can tell they made her put her hands on her face for five hours, but I think it's a good fit for her personality. I'm glad they didn't try too much to make her what she isn't.

I still wonder how much appeal this will have but I guess it must be dirt cheap to make, and she's not asking a lot, nor will she get a lot, so they'll probably make a big profit.

'Silent Night,' Susan Boyle's second single -- following her cover of Rolling Stone's 'Wild Horses' -- is off her debut album 'I Dreamed a Dream' (out in stores Nov. 23). The song starts out a cappella, showcasing her clear voice and even-keeled vibrato. This is one of the few songs she performed earlier this year on Britain's Got Talent that is included in her debut; other songs include 'I Dreamed a Dream' and 'Cry Me a River.' Check out her new single on AOL Radio's Holiday Classics station.

I wish everyone on Simon Cowell or Idol-related CDs got to sing a capella. Almost every time I have bought an Idol-related CD, they are overproduced to the point of absurdity.

What is overproduced in your world, Carl?

BTW, you can hear samples of every song:

I like many of her performances, but her version of "The End Of The World" is TOTALLY wrong on so many levels. It's far too slow, too measured in her vocal approach. It needs PATHOS, and she is trying to sing it in this theatrical fashion.

I'm really glad to see this. I want this to be a watershed moment in the music industry where performers of a certain age are not thrown out to pasture. And an emphasis on TALENT over tits and ass. Susan Boyle, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and Scissor Sisters gives one hope for the future.
