I thought there was a scene where she picked this knife up off the shelf in his room and asked what he had it for. Maybe she'll take the blame for Zapato.

Ooooooh! (note possible spoiler in your post!)

Me likey. Not the alleged event...but the planting of a seed, and Heather getting a taste of her medicine.

Poor Paul.

I'm not even saying Jill should actually be hired, but someone with her cast and cost cutting expertise...

I certainly would never want that crazy bitch anywhere near Y&R. Let's face it, the woman has to take off her brassiere to count to TWO. As far as cutting budgets, you don't need HER for that. Fans post all the time how budgest can be cut. The first thing I would do is cut ANY new background music, they have a library just chocked full of pieces, and at least 30 or 40 of them haven't been heard in a decade. Just use what you got, caue anytime they try a new piece, most everyone hated it, anyway. What's the deal with the wardrobe? Do they pay for these clothes? In the 70's, the clothes (Except the Foster's, of course) were provided by Giorgios of Beverly Hills in exchange for a plug at the end of every show. A little more product placement in a subtle way couldn't hurt. And EVERYONE know what parts of the cast need to go.. *cough* JT, *cough*, Gloria, Jeffrey, *Cough* Tyra*.

LMAO at "she who must not be named"

I forgot about that Giorgio's of Beverly Hills stuff. Yes, that would seem to be a thing they could do.

In your list of people to go, though I like Gloria...I could get behind it. But JT? Esp from you? I somehow thought you'd want to keep that boy around....

Instead of

Zapato

it would be ironic if it was

Fisher

. They look alike but the audience is far more attached to one!!

And I really think that MJ is an expert at

taxidermy and does it herself.

So, I'm trying not to breach a confidence here, but I've had a bit of a correspondence with one veteran of the show.

The veteran confirms things that we have heard, including: his/her opinion that money is being spent but "sometimes on the wrong things", that the current story focus seems to be on plot, not on the "very thing Bill Bell did so effortlessly, which was play on the moments between the characters and see each character's internal struggle. That is where the drama works, through the intensity." The veteran confirms that his/her contract status is likely to disappear within the coming months. The veteran says that letters to sony.com, cbs.com, media domain are all looked at by staff/writers.

You all realize this could be any of a number of folks currently neglected on the canvas. But I'm kind of feeling pushed into advocacy here. For me, it also suggests that some of the characters we're not seeing played very much -- like Don Diamont -- are being intentionally pushed off the stove to diminish our affection for them. I guess I could buy that for some of the neglected characters, but for the veteran with whom I have corresponded, it is truly unacceptable to me.

That doesn't surprise me that they are trying to "diminish our affection". AMC did the same thing to the point where I would tune in during my days off and recognize no one. Eventually I quit bothering to even tune in to see what Erica, Adam and Tad were up to.

That's no surprise, anyone can look at this show and its cast see how money is being wasted away and a lot of times on wrong things. I don't even have to go into how plot driven and nonsensical this show has become.

And it doesn't surprise me that they might want to reshape this show, it's already on the road to being even more unrecognizable than it already is.

Again, with the right writers, producers, and timing, a reshaping could be done and done successfully. But on a show that's already neglecting so many people, a show that many of us find a mess overall, a show that many of us do not like the writing style and have little confidence in the writers, it's very worrisome.

LOL! You think they would listen to what fans say on a message board as to how they should trim their costs and cast?

They shouldn't be wasting as much as they do, especially now.

I'm starting to wonder if the soaps have been given a mandate to alienate the viewers so that they can pull the plug without a lot of outrage.

I think SOD's Mala Bhattacharjee brought up some good point about Y&R's intentional neglect of showing gay kissing/sex and Rafe/Adam overall.

Cutting away from Y&R's Adam and Rafe kissing isn't going to make it any less gay and, therefore, more palatable for conservative viewers. Odds are they've already tuned out because the mere existence of gay characters disturbs them...or because Adam's story in general is so crazy. A little smooch action isn't going to make it any worse. Not-so-gay gay content is kinda like being a "little bit pregnant." The barn door's open, the horse has fled, and there ain't no getting it back in the stall.

On a show where Mary Jane's routinely talking to her DEAD, STUFFED CAT (No, I will never get over Kitty), Sharon played mattress tag with three guys in a handful of days, and Devon is lusting after his auntie Tyra, two guys kissing is a cause for alarm? Please. I think out of all the crazy stunts Adam has pulled, tonsil hockey with Babyface Torres is probably the most benign.

Especially since they've already slept together. Again, newsflash: Whoever was going to tune out because of the icky gayness probably did so at that point, when viewers saw even less than they did this week.

Here's the thing about daytime right now: After ATWT trail-blazed with Noah and Luke and did it successfully, other soaps are jumping on the bandwagon and wanting a piece of the action. But you can't have your gay cake and then try to eat it as heterosexually as possible. You can't be all trendy and incorporate two gay characters and one sexually ambiguous one (please page me when you figure yourself out, Adam) only to get all shy about letting them act like regular people. ATWT and ATWT fans fought the kissing battle already; to start Y&R off back at square one is silly. Are viewers really going to have to go through this every single time a same sex duo is featured? Come on.

That's not to say that I think Adam and Rafe kissing is some wonderful example of equal representation. Unlike with Noah and Luke, I don't think a slew of fans are going to be writing in for this duo to kiss and be shown making love. This story is not a positive portrayal of gay characters and should not be lauded as such. It's messed up. It implies that Adam is so desperate that he's debasing himself, doing something shameful and uncharacteristic, by seducing Rafe, and it makes Rafe look hopelessly clueless. And not showing them at least shirtless after a sexcapade or engaged in a kiss adds an extra layer of offense. It's like, "OMG, Adam is doing something SO EVIL that we CAN'T EVEN SHOW YOU HIS BEHAVIOR." So, my rationale for seeing Adam and Rafe be physical is simply this: Straight characters manipulate each other with intimacy and sex all the time and we see it. Why shouldn't the same rule apply to gay or bisexual manipulators?

I'm glad to see some close to official confirmation of the strategy to diminish characters so we will no longer care about them. I couldn't believe the writing for people like Jill was not deliberately designed to make viewers stop caring. They don't seem to realize that for some viewers, like me, this makes me lose interest in the show, not the character. Particularly when they do such a poor job of introducing most new characters, and when the stories they give to the characters they do like, such as the Quad, damage everyone involved.

I certainly would never want that crazy bitch anywhere near Y&R. Let's face it, the woman has to take off her brassiere to count to TWO.

And you know this because...? How is JFP different from any other "crazy bitch" executive in daytime?!

Despite the nasty stories we've all heard and her arrogant interviews and acceptance speeches, JFP is well respected in the industry.

At least JFP stands behind her work instead of always pitting fanbases against each other and keeping useless vets/newbies on the canvas.

The first thing I would do is cut ANY new background music, they have a library just chocked full of pieces, and at least 30 or 40 of them haven't been heard in a decade.
But how do you know what the licensing agreement is for those pieces, if there even is one? Sony may not own the rights to the music, the composers might. Keep in mind that is(allegedly) the reason why SOAPnet couldn't acquire Santa Barbara, because the music composed(and the pop music songs used) cost too much in royalties. Not to mention, despite the beauty of alot of those older scores, they're still fairly dated.

What's the deal with the wardrobe? Do they pay for these clothes? In the 70's, the clothes (Except the Foster's, of course) were provided by Giorgios of Beverly Hills in exchange for a plug at the end of every show.

But that was back when soaps had more eyeballs. Do you really think Giorgio's or any other fashion house would donate expensive wardrobe to a daytime soap whose audience cannot afford to buy the product?

And no offense, but seeing that Maria is getting alot of these crazy, hackneyed ideas from "fans," I think "fans" are the last people the show's executives should turn to when trying to figure out how to make cuts.

I doubt the money people at the Bell Dramatic Serial Company and Sony worry about what the fans want when they have to maintain a certain budget and make cuts too. Clearly, it's no use in explaining this to the fanbois who clearly have no idea how the television business is run and the executives behind these decisions.

Maria is one of the most unimaginative and uncreative people that's ever worked on daytime. You know it's bad when you have to go to the internet and search posts from traget posters for your storyline plans. It's not like this practice pleases everyone, it deeply alienates fans of the show and it's not a good thing when everything about the show seems to be so predictable and contrived.
