I don't think Neil can ever be fun with anyone. I think the character has been pointless for a long time and only ever seems relevant when Drucilla is around.

I don't believe the Abbotts have been any kind of a family in a long time, with or without John. Y&R hasn't written about families or family dynamics in years, aside from the Fishers, who are more of a crime family. I didn't have a problem with John being killed off so much as I did with the way they killed him off. There was little emotional impact, more of the story was about Gloria, and the Gloria/Jack rivalry, one which, as we can already see, did not have a long shelf life.

They need a Lily who can bring some flavor to the Winters. They can keep Olivia & the rest of them. But they have to recast Lily. For The Winters to be good again. Notice only time people are interested in the Winters is when Malcolm & Dru is around. Everybody else they don't care about. CKLily is so bland & she doesn't help out the rest of her bland family.

I don't agree. CK was ruined when Jack Smith decided to make her a lead actress. By the time she left the show, the character and Khalil had become insufferable. Then she returned in the midst of controversy. I don't know what happened because when CK first started on the show she was better.

I do agree about the "Princess of GC," which needs to stop.

I don't think Chloe is a suffering wife, and that's in part of Hendrickson's superb acting.

Even if the show would work around TC schedule, what would be the point? They'd just be another Michael/Lauren.

I think they should take a risk and just write Neil out. Have him say he saw someone who looked like Dru and he has to go see if that's really her. Then they could bring Olivia back on a more regular basis, if TLW is able, and bring in an older Nate. I think Neil is an albatross at the moment and needs a rest. I also don't think they should be averse to recasting Malcolm. Shemar Moore was very charismatic but I think they could find other actors who might be as good, if not even better. They never explored Lily's relationship with her father and Malcolm should really shake up Lily's life and her worldview.

Why do so many posters want KSJ/Neil out of the show? Several people suggest that he should be written out, killed off, etc. I like Neil because he is not a doctor or a cop and I would love to see him get involved with Phyllis. If VR ever comes back, it would be fun for Dru to find Neil with Phyllis :)

Sometimes I believe that Brad Bell is secretly helping MAB with Y&R. Jabot has become just like Forrester Creations, where every few weeks someone new is in charge of the company, all these triangles with two women and a guy, Jeffrey and Gloria remind me of Clarke and Sally (in a way), Sharon is Brooke and now there is a rumor about

Why would the very classy number one soap

Do Victor and Nikki remember that they have a grandson? They live in different worlds. Same with Phyllis and her son. I hate this group thing on soaps.

OLTL's Rex Balsom has many similarities with early Paul Williams. Bad-boy-turned-good-guy, P.I. etc.

So Sharon's craziness was just a device for WTD storyline? :(

Whenever I see Mary Jane, I feel that TPRB have brought her in order to "scare" Michelle Stafford. I really don't want my supersexy Linda Tabbak from Prison Break go insane. With Adam being that evil, there is no room for a female psycho, considering that Ashley, Sharon, Phyllis, Kevin among others are not very stable either...

Just read the rumor about

I never brought Dru daughter should be jealous of anybody. She should be more of a go getter. All that I want what Colleen have should be above Dru daughter. But then again CKLily never play as she Dru daughter more of an adopted daughter from California. I believe a go getter Dru daughter could pull in all these guys & more. Dru & Malcolm are go getters just don't understand how they produce CKLily.

I've never been crazy about Neil. I think KSJ is a mediocre actor most of the time, and I think Neil has always been a self-righteous bore. He does what he wants, all while he used to judge Drucilla constantly. I thought after VR left they could have revitalized Neil but instead they put him in the tacky story with Tyra which put a big red line under all of Neil's worst character traits.

Is Adam trying to make Ashley lose her baby because he doesn't want Victor to ruin the life of another one of his children's? Look what happened to Adam when he got into Victor's orbit. Maybe in some sick twisted way Adam believes that Ashley/Victor's baby would be better off dead than having to grow up with Victor as a father.

That motivation (misguided concern for the fetus) doesn't make sense for Adam. He has no sympathy for his current siblings. He wants Baby Vashley dead for the following reasons:

  • wants Victor to suffer the loss of another child
  • wants Jack to suffer the loss of a nephew/niece
  • wants to get rid of the competition/Victor's heirs
  • gets off on hurting others
  • has embraced nihilism

I think it does make sense. Yeah he might not have respect for Nick/Victoria, but maybe he's taking a liking to Ashley (sees the good in her like his mother), and knows that she will never leave Victor, so he doesn't want to see baby grow up with Victor as a father (as examples of Nick/Vicky). Whatever his motivation is better be downright twisted and good!

The Jack one makes sense too.

I don't know. Kristoff St. John and Doug Davidson are two of the most underrated actors on Y&R. They always deliver when given the material. I think it's about time they move them up to Lead status. I'd love to see KSJ take home the LEAD Emmy one day. That way he would have won them all.

KSJ is a fine looking man, but how is he a lead? He has never carried a story. Without a real leading lady like VR to carry him, he's adrift. Bryton has more natural ability to carry a story than KSJ does. KSJ also lacks Shemar Moore's natural charm to carry him through uninspired stories. KSJ's role on this or any soap should be "trophy husband".

There's nothing in the text to show that Adam gives a damn about Abby. To the counter, we've seen him playing mindgames with her, trying to make her jealous of the new baby.

    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
