I get these structural points. But do you have any story suggestions? Any plot or character recommendations? I'm sincerely interested in your (and everyone's) ideas. HOW can this group be fixed?

What song? It was Josh Groban, wasn't it?

From the interviews, and actor's perspective it would be a crazy move to get rid of MAB for too many reasons.

First bring the show back to business. Then bring in Neil running Chancellor. Maybe down the road a Jill/Neil/Ashley triangle (Once Lane is disposed of).

Give Neil some incurable disease and write a proper death, it's the only thing this current regime can do that might be compelling with this character so far.

Keep waiting for the blatant segregation to end on this show and for the show's Black characters to have any real depth.

They really need to get rid of Tyrant and Ana too, Devon as well.

I'm not saying get rid of her completely. She can keep her Co-EP credit while someone who wrote a really good long-term bible for the characters and upcoming storylines takes over the writing duties.

But anyway, I feel it in my bones that Steven Kent and Sony will force the Bell's out soon enough. :)

This current writing regime cannot write business storylines. Their idea of a business storyline is musical chairs as to who is the CEO of Jabot.

I just feel like MAB is trying to give the fans what they want, and in the end it can end up hurting her. She's trying to appease everyone. No one will ever be completely satisfied. Her only big mistake is the Winters.

IMO, this was one of the best scenes during John's death.

I'm hearing buzz about Neil-Nina. Would that work?

I'd like to see Neil turn ruthless at Chancellor. Maybe Jack and Victor diss him one time too many, so he decides to show them. And wins. That might do it. But my fear is that it would be too much of a stretch for the Neil we know....

I liked the Groban song...different strokes, I guess.

I have ZERO memory of Phyllis' ultrasound. Zero. She discovered she was pregnant with Nick's child just as John was dying? They did a "cycle of life" thing? I have zero memory of that.

They were watching their baby through the monitor. It was kinda tasteless. I don't mind Groban, but John Abbott does not need Josh Groban to be singing through a montage on his death bed. Something classier would have been nice.

They killed so much drama by making that kid Nick's. Phyllis should have left Jack for Nick, while pregnant with Jack's kid. That could have fueled more drama for years to come. Latham is such a hack, Sally Suckass Moron-a wasn't kidding when she said Latham didn't write one long-term story projection when she joined the show.

The show could work around TC's schedule. Neil/Nina could be a very fun couple but there's an embargo on Neil dating white women.

John & Cassie's death were huge mistakes. Not as catastrophic as Maureen's death on GL but mistakes nonetheless. If Lyndey Fonseca had stayed as Colleen (and I'm glad for her sake she moved on), the loss of Cassie would be tolerable. LF's Colleen was pure ingenue goodness. CK Lily has been ruined by making her the "new" Colleen. She was much better as the pretty but jealous friend of the ingenue princess. Lily with Kevin was incredible soap. Lily so desperate for Daniel she ran away with him was incredible soap. But Lily as the "princess" of GC with all the men in love with her is ridiculous. Lily's meant to be a good girl with a huge streak of jealousy and insecurity. Of course, that's who Chloe is now written, and that's also ridiculous. Chloe should have been a true psycho-gold-digger. Now she's a long-suffering wife. Blech.

    • Eeek. I didn't know this either! I will say, though, even though they skimmed over a lot of Roger's past, I will give them props for not trying to turn him into a hero. Yeah, I was hoping we would get more 1986 episodes than were available on YT before, but now I'm wondering if I really want to see that.
    • That's what Julie Hanan Carruthers is doing for BTG at the new studio in Atlanta, but JHC is credited. And @errol said JHC is working in a nonproduction capacity at Y&R.
    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
    • That was one of the best grandslam finals.  Alcaraz comes all the way back down 2 sets to 0, and three match points in the 3rd set, to win it in a 5th set tie-break.  And the quality of play was excellent - so many great shots.  What a battle!
    • Indeed. I may try to watch it in full sometime, but not anytime soon... Mark played Sean Baxter for a few episodes when Courtney married Andy. Burke was either on Broadway or at OLTL at that time, I suppose.
    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair. Mark Lewis was on ATWT? 1986 is not a good year, storywise. No bueno. Muy no bueno.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
