Y&R: Week of May 04, 2009

Y&R needs more romance. Not cheap bed-hopping. I don't want them back together, but Victor/Nikki used to be great at that. I loved the scene where Victor got Il Divo to serenade Nikki. We need more of those scenes. One last thing, PLEASE don't give those scenes to Lily/Cane either. Kay/Murphy are a great place to start (I loved the mambo proposal, more of that).

Well, where is the romance potential? I see it:

- Nikki & Paul

- Lauren & Michael

- Daniel & Amber

- JT * either Colleen or Victoria (I acknowledge the casting limitations)

- Mac & Cane

What I'm saying is that each of these couples COULD be positioned into romantic storylines. None, except Likey, currently is much...but it could work.

I was, until it became an absolute farce. For months I've been trying to keep this thread on-topic and concise, I'm not even going to bother anymore.

I didn't realize you were the thread-governor :). That said, what goal were you trying to achieve with conciseness?

I don't think Y&R needs more romance. I think Y&R needs more heat. It needs more stories like Jack & Jill's scandalous affair, back when Jill was married to John (for the first time). It needs more glamorous people being naughty.

Exactly... we need heat, passion... not bland Lane-type romance. Ugh.

Exactly. "Lane" is not heat. "Lane" is...well, "Lame". (Excuse me, "Lane".)

Ahhh yes, that version of their name was also used a lot. No need to explain why.

Everything this thread isn't....

Is that necessarily a bad thing?

When the topic is "Y&R: Week of May 04, 2009" and the majority of the thread doesn't pertain to anything that occurred during the week, I'd say yes...

Some people just can't handle message board threads that stretch on longer than your average Russian novel. But that's okay! I'm sure those individuals could make themselves at home on the GL or DAYS threads.

Because, to a cold-hearted, opportunistic sort like Adam, Ashley, no matter how sympathetic she has been toward him, is another chess piece to him.

I don't see anything wrong with Adam being the calculating type, but I'm afraid the show hasn't done a good job of showing the vulnerability underneath all that (and no, just knowing he resents Victor for not being there for him and Hope is not enough). Even Victor has a fraility or two which we are allowed to see in his quieter, more solitary moments.

To me, that doesn't matter either. But this group of writers has had a problem showing the multifaceted sides of a lot of their characters, as we see with everyone except the vets. Just because they don't do so for Adam doesn't mean that they intend him to throw him under the bus after this over.

Sure, that's true. But it seems that you can't discuss a certain storyline without including references to the past, commenting on the ability of a certain actor/actress and put spoilers in... so that's how it all ends up.

Good. They shouldn't.

Oh, no! You won't hear any more "bus talk" from me! Not after tomorrow, anyway! ;)

This IS like watching Y&R, without the murder of course and jail time.

H/she says, before rubbing on the tainted face cream. ;)

Did anyone else catch the slight moaning Billy was doing as he talked to Sharon? Or was just me?
