I am just sick with the writing for [Heather]. So sick.

And you got every right to feel that way.

I mean seriously: DAs on soaps are always either the biggest asses in town (Hi Rick Lansing!) or the dumbest/shallowest (Hi Scotty Baldwin). Now with Vail she's supposed to be this idealistic DA and then she goes after a core character on the show, with non-existing motive and this person most viewers share sympathies with locked up in a sraight jacket and sedated.

A romantic heroine as DA is simply not working or there has to be counterpart kinda like Dave Kelley did it on THE PRACTICE where Lara Flynn Boyle always had a sinister boss or aggressive colleague pushing her into corners to make her redeemable. DAs either need to be villains or mere supporting characters. As it wasn't obvious enough a few years ago when Jeff Boremewell went after John and then was supposed to sizzle with Ash/Glo/Jill. <_<

Heather at Jabot was working perfectly but there wouldn't have been any storyin recent months, so they tossed her around. This kept her on the show but nothing more.

Friends. She needs friends. Everyone needs a friend. At least ONE friend. She's basically a character used so everyone could hate her for always prosecuting their beloved characters.

As Victoria needs a friend, Sharon, and Tyra. It was only recently that girl-power was reintroduced on this show with the super-group K, Esther, Amber, Mac, and Nikki (Chloe substituting when necessary). But there was a drought of female cohesion on this show for years, I'd say after Dru died and Lily and Colleen were re-recast.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this possibility before, but here are my thoughts on who could be gaslighting Ashley; also with a few spoilers, so I'll put it in tags:

First of all, it seems to me that the writers are obviously making it too obvious that either Estella or Adam are gaslighting Ashley.

From one spoiler, Adam will tell Ashley that he thinks it's Victoria, so there's another person to suspect.

Meanwhile, from other spoilers, at Kay's wedding, Victor will ask Paul to let him dance with Nikki (shock!). Then a week later, Victor will tell Nikki that "he's sorry." Also, Ashley will find Sabrina's stuff sitting at Victor's desk at Newman. All of these spoilers, at least to me, seem to indicate that Victor could be gaslighting Ashley (intentionally or accidentally?) so and is still reeling from Sabrina's death.

Just a possibility.

Nah. Nah. I don't think so. Unless the

1. Yes! I never liked Brittany, but she was fine to me as the "teen-bitch obstacle" for Mac. It was clear to me they were trying to make another "Lauren" (since Lauren had been Traci's Brittany), but the actress wasn't up for it. When Jack Smith gave in to his infatuation for her and made her his front-burner female...it was the clearest sign that the show was off the rails.

My eye socket and ear drums will never recover from that party at the Abbotts' pool, when she grabbed the microphone and sang "The Girl from Ipanema", trying to seduce Sean Bridges away from Jill. The fact that some of you are probably saying "who? Sean Bridges?" shows how far the show had drifted at that point.

2. Maria Bellerina...or maybe Maria Bellarena...I just love that more than anything. That may be my new name for her...I'm stealing it. It sounds great.

3. So, I initially loathed Bobby. Like you said, greasy hair...sleaze. I must confessed, I got biased by pictures of him in his younger days, when he used to wash his hair. He was once very beautiful. (If you want to see, let me know, and I'll put it in the soaphunks thread).

My regard for him switched, solely, in that [ a ] he was the one "strong man" I thought could stand up to Victor Newman and confront Victor at HIS level -- i.e., streetfighter, and that, coupled with his [ b ] decent chemistry with Melody Thomas-Scott made me think that THAT could have made a decent triangle where Victor had a legitimate rival.

It would also be such a nice contrast...since it would be a pull between Nikki's roots (Bobby, the working class, her ties to the Cassein family) and her adult life (mistress of the manor). [They could do a similar conflict with Paul and Victor to some extent...but the writers seem uninterested).

Bobby, though, plain and simple, lost his b*lls when he got involved with Brittany. I had zero interest for the milquetoast, sensitive man he became with her. When he was not with Brittany, he was a singular presence on Y&R. Like Wartman, he was a voice from the other side of the tracks, and Y&R needed a bit of that.

It is interesting, on Y&R, that there have been some of these "working class" types who have captured the public imagination, precisely because they offered such a nice contrast to the rest of the town (Veleka Gray's manicurist during the Patty Williams days; Dorothy and Wayne Stevens; Wartman; Bobby; Cassie's adoptive mother Alice). There is always room for a bit of that.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Keep the extensions, Clementine! Keep the extensions!!!!

I'm not sure if they make a difference. I still don't like her as Mac at all, though I think I might have maybe seen a teeny spark between her and Cane.

I like her Mac, I like her extensions.

As for the spark...if you didn't see it, the writers made sure you HEARD it? Didn't you catch that part where Mackenzie talked about her trajectory as being more similar to Cane's than to Billy's?

It is true, too. They both grew up fatherless, went on hunts for their parent, have "walked the earth". With Cane back in the bar, and Mac refusing to work for Chancellor/the foundation, they are both redefined as eschewing wealth and power.

The problem is, the thought of another quadrangle (Cane, Chloe, Mac, Billy) makes me ill...even though I think it might be better than a triangle involving Lily.

Also, what to do with Lily if she and Cane break up? Well, I guess that's why they're bringing in

P4

?

I agree...but how else do you see it going down?

You oughta replace that doorframe avatar with a bedscene avatar between those two :). Or you could have my Adam-and-Rafe avatar :).

Well, the writing for the character has sucked from the get-go. The only bright spot was partially her relationship with Adam and the little friendship that she had with Daniel.

The acting ability is a different thing. IMO, she is far from being "amazing," but she handles the role just fine (and way better than some other actresses handle their roles). I don't know how else she could play someone so cold and friendless.

I SO agree! There isn't another interpretation that would work for the character other than being robotically determined to win her case - no matter the evidence. I really like VB. She should be a leading actress on this show, IMO. But the writers/producers can't have yet another heroine on this show - Lily, Ashley, Nikki, Kay, Vic-Boria and now Mac (this list of heroines is debatable, i know). They have her firmly planted in supporting, and supporting roles usually tend to be antagonistic, character-actor roles. Hence, we have this beautiful, charismatic actress being spat at us in the most unlikeable role. And many of us all have said they do Heather no favors with her crazy character logic (Justice for all, except if I wanna bang you).

And the sad fact is, if they were smart, she could PERFECTLY fill the Christine Blair void (not that anyone is begging for this void to be filled). But you have to admit that Cricket was involved in many, many good stories as the voice of justice, and in a very likeable, compassionate way. If only Bloom's last name were Bell....

I don't think Lily will be with another man anytime soon, not with LAME getting married soon. They wouldn't throw that marriage out this fast.

Keep him the hell away romantically from Lily and "Colleen" that's all I ask. Those two kill anything they're next to. Friendships are OK, but nothing more than that.

I like this avatar. :) I'll change it some other day.

I'm not exactly keen on the Adam-Rafe stuff, so no, but thanks.

There are still some of us who wouldn't mind to have Christine back.

But not every character can be a heroine.

We're vibing today, dmarex! I don't think it's Estella. It certainly still could be Adam, but I said Victoria earlier this week. Did you see her face when Victor accused Nikki? She looked embarassed, but also a bit guilty. Whomever used Ashley's credit card to make those purchases, it sort of implies it was a female impersonating Ashley to sign the receipt. Which brings me to my NEXT suspect (and I'd F***in LOVE this) if it was Abby!!! Abby really was messed up about Brad's death and she could somehow be avenging her father's death by keeping them apart, but i don't think Abby would stomache it if her mother had another breakdown and lost another baby. Which leads me to my real, REAL suspect - Colleen. Colleen knows all about Sabrina, and she hates Ashley and Victor. It'd be a huge moment for the character and would give her a

logical exit when she's exposed (to do Flicka 2!)

And give JT ammo to get her off the board. ;)

OMG yes! If that would erase this version of Colleen from our screens it would be amazing.

But for the sake of the Colleen that we used to know (and haven't seen since 2007) I don't want the character to be destroyed... but still, she could be doing it out of pain of losing her father.

it'd be a neat twist if Adam and Colleen were working together. Remember that scene when Adam introduced his book - the only one to support the idea was Colleen....hmmmm.
