So that's it? Trump's actually won?

Man... I honestly don't know what I'm going to do if I end up losing my Social Security and Medicare. I have issues with anxiety and depression and I can't work and I'm also disabled. If things get really bad there's a good possibility that I probably won't be living for too much longer. I know my parents won't and they're already getting on in years.

I'll be surprised if we even have a democracy in 4 years. I guess we're about to find out how bad things could potentially get.

How the hell are we going to look forward to the midterms when now the Republicans have the chance to implement Project 2025 and we're not only going to have a national abortion ban but gay marriage is also more than likely going to be overturned now and birth control might even get banned now? There is nothing the Democrats can do now; we're basically super screwed at this point. As a matter of fact they are pretty much done as a party. They pushed Joe Biden out of the race and for what? Just to be humiliated by the GOP? What if the new regime passes a series of laws where television shows can't even have POC or gay characters or storylines in movies and T.V. shows anymore? I also won't be surprised if in a few years women won't be allowed to vote or even work outside the home either.

You wrote these posts when the November 2024 election results first came in.
Some may have thought you were catastrophizing, but you weren't.

Yeah, I get that a lot, especially from my friends and family.

After the election, so many people I know in real life would say to me, "oh it can't possibly ever be that bad - there are systems in place to prevent overreach! We just have to keep the faith and vote in the midterms, and all will be okay."  They clearly didn't read Project 2025, or if they did, they didn't think anyone would try to implement it.

But every time the next thing happens, I remember what you posted that day, and I think, @MissPhoenixGirl92 was not exaggerating.

I remember when the Democrats used to say back in the 00s that future elections was going to be very favorable for us because demographics was in our favor.

The Times is too busy today playing defense after platforming a white supremacist and eugenicist and trying to hide his identity in a goofy hit piece about Mamdani. Happy 4th, everyone.

It was a shitty story, but a part of me keeps thinking about how so many Mamdani supporters believe this is the exact type of person who can be reached if only the neolibs and 99.999999% of other Democrats are all wiped from existence. They don't care about racism, they just care that their latest messiah and battering ram (see Emma Vigeland and the other cosplay socialists claiming that Democrats didn't care about opposing the bill and only cared about stopping Mamdani) might get hurt by it. When they turn against him in a year or less, they will be parroting the story as the gospel truth.

I don't think the dude is the second coming and I have my share of issues with his platform or circle, but a lot of those kind of folks are already calling Mamdani a sellout because for them actually being electable is a failure. What I do know is that if he (or any liberal or progressive) wins the Times will be on him like this every day. If you ask me to choose between a Nazi eugenicist platformed by the NY Times and Mamdani, it's always gonna be Door #2.

In terms of movement, I tend to see it as the same doors with a few aesthetic differences, but I do think Mamdani's campaign (for the primary anyway) was strong and should be studied.

The NYC mayor's is basically a choice between three flavors of garbage: the racist, the jihadist, and the criminal. I genuinely feel sorry for the residents of the city who would like a halfway decent government. At this point Mike Bloomberg could say "Hey, write me in if none of these choices work for you." (I'm kidding. Sort of.)

Meanwhile, the left is incapable of running a functional general election campaign against Republicans and certainly not in an electorate with a large percentage of Black voters so the next few months are going to be a shitshow. The NY Times "hit" piece is just the beginning and I'm happy to sit back and watch other shoes drop.

They also have the jobs posted for the lower ranking thugs. No hourly wage listed. I guess people who click on that one are supposed to want to do that kind of work, regardless of pay?

Surprised that this remarkable investigation into how Netanyahu prolonged the war in Gaza — killing tens of 1000s of civilians — for his own benefit has not gotten more attention. So: gift link. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/11/m...
