Schumer's coalition to vote Yes appears to be crumbling - we'll see if he can pull it out with a few votes, but as Leader I think he may be cooked (as he should be). Gillibrand, who railed against the No votes for him so loudly yesterday that the press could hear her screaming behind the sealed doors, is now also pointedly ducking the press.

yes Schumer pretty much said that, but how many people have to suffer in the next years while medicaid is defunded?  Strategizing about blame works for those who can afford what's coming.  Not for the rest of us.

I totally agree with this sentiment. HOWEVER...

Let's face it: Half of the voting electorate is downright ignorant. "Stupid" is the more stark term. And those folks would blame Dems regardless.

But the sheer fact is? Many that once voted for Dems swarmed to Trump. And as awful as it is, maybe they HAVE TO FEEL that hurt to be reminded of what they foolishly decided to throw away for a con man. As is said, a toddler will keep trying to touch a hot stove until they are burned.

I am NOT saying I don't feel for anyone about to suffer, but in reality, Dems can posture and do all sorts of rallies and try to obstruct, but voters gave the GOP all three branches. Voters claim they wanted this. So now they must face the consequences of that train of thought. Because a minority party can do only so much - unless and until the American people wake up and join in, too.

This act can't be done with just an EO.  It has to be approved by Congress.  There is already a GOP Senator, Bill Cassidy who has said he will bring this up for a vote.  However, I don't think it will pass through Congress as I believe 60 votes are needed.  I would be shocked if any Dem senator voted for it so it will most likely fail.

    • They aren't all bio, but I remember DD saying he treats them as if they were. He seems like a good man.
    • I thought that might be it. Thanks.

    • Yeah.  As one of the biggest John and John/Marlena fans here I don't like this exit.  I know the circumstances were difficult and Drake apparently signed off on this.  I think him dying while killing Orpheus was the way to go.  There isn't a scenario I can imagine John not immediately running home to see Marlena before he helps Bo.  It's very difficult to watch his family wait for him and be so excited.   I am positive the aftermath will be great.  I just don't love the exit.
    • Wouldn't the plan have been to pair Denny and Steve for a Steve/Denny/Carrie triangle and try to recreate the Tess/Bill dynamic from their time at Love of Life? Or was it just a short term thing like her role on ATWT? Maybe Toni wasn't interested in contract gigs?
    • Gail was around months before. I think she was added by the Elmans, who introduced Scotty and David Hamillton, Lamont and Katie Corbin and Alan Quartemaine, all characters Marland worked with and developed. The Ellmans were only around for 6 weeks or so but introduced some major characters. Unlike other writers who come in and have mass cast changes, Marland worked with what was there.
    • I am not a big Anna/Duke fan, but that was an awful return.   IB/FH certainly are better together than Anna/Valentin though. I could care less about the tango.  I don't know why some actors are doing multiple performances anyhow lol.  I certainly don't need the Chase variety show hour. IIRC, Jonathon Jackson can sing just as well as JS or Bradford, but I guess Lucky and head nurse Liz aren't cool enough to get an invite.
    • Rebecca Hollen's last airdate seems to fall between July 4th, 1985 and July 15th. Reva tells Trish she's in love with Kyle and leaving HB on July 4th. The Lewises (minus Trish) go to Cross Creek to celebrate Billy's birthday (this year, other years it's in March) to "accept" Kyle as a Lewis the week of the 15th.
    • I've said this before, but I strongly suspect Carlivati would've just... brought Duke back again if he'd stayed at the show long enough. They really fúcked up Duke's return leaving him moribund and pathetic after he returned, whereas Ian Buchanan IRL is anything but. I have no real interest in another return for him but honestly Zombie Duke Round 2, with a little life in him again, could not be worse than most of Anna's dreadful pairings since, and given Tristan and Robert are clearly not an option. But I do think she should have a new, better man.
