The early word is that CBS had a good week last week and B&B got in the upper 2s as Sacha reported. If that's true then the Marcus experiment worked with Pam.

Folks if you're currently not watching AMC you better start with today's episode or the coming episodes. AMC so far out of all the soaps had the best episode of the year so far today. I'm talking about all soaps and I watch all 8 of them and there were some good ones this year including Y&R in late July-early August, DOOL back in February, OLTL in May, GL back in late July, and GH's turn around recently.

If the ratings come out soon I'll write a ratings analysis this week. I've got a feeling the ratings coming out on Fridays has killed people's interest in posting on the ratings.

I don't see how one can say a certain storyline worked because the ratings rose one week. I also don't see how one can analyze ratings based on storylines that aired during a certain week. If soap ratings truly represented quality and critical acclaim, then Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara would still be with us today. Just because soaps have a bad weeks in ratings, doesn't mean they aired bad episodes and vice versa.

Also, no one can predict the ratings trend for the next couple of months based on what's happening now. Judging by the trends, I expect no significant rises and more loss of viewers. Optimism and statistical trends are two very different things.

Well, it's hard for me to believe CBS did well. ATWT for the most part was boring last week. The week before was much better and it only maintained its ratings. Of course ratings are fickle. So who really knows. I can easily see all the shows dropping this week. I hope the poster is right. If he is wrong I will never trust him again...LOL

The AMC stuff is pure gimicks. I saw today's show and it was stupid. Greenlee and Ryan talking outside with looming bad weather on top of them...LOL. I found it laughable and unbelievable. Who in there right mind would be outside during a tornado warning/watch?

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
