Thanks. I haven't seen much of Mark so didn't remember him.

Was it Tyler who was a non-factor in the show's last years? I think I remember one or even two actors leaving for this reason.

When did they switch from Kimberly Beck Hilton to Catherine Hickland? I thought Hilton may have been let go, but she was being interviewed in SOD up to about spring or late winter 1983, so that seems like it was a while, and she wanted to leave.

I've asked this before, but what happened to Jenny? Did she and Zed leave the show together? Or was Julie with Zed at the end?

I'm not sure what happened to Jenny. And I'm pretty sure Sam being Scotty's father was a retcon very late in the run, I don't think there'd ever been a hint of Sam being with Kelly prior. I have some episodes leading up to the finale which I think you've seen, where Kate is holding the Scotty secret over Sam's head forcing him to divorce Myrna and marry her.

I haven't gotten around to watching the finale yet, as the whole firing squad thing always reminds me of poor Jessica on Soap. I will soon.

So did they phase Tyler out? Or was that another character?

I'm really starting to get more into the show - at first it was a bit distant for me, perhaps because of all the "action" stuff in the episodes available.

I also get a cheap laugh out of this scene, from the clips which you mentioned earlier this year, where, after Wally sees Clarissa hit Myrna, he apparently realizes it's OK to beat up Jordy. The "newsbreak" footage is even better, as it plays out like one of those Taiwanese parodies that have become so popular.

Whatever happened to Lisbeth? Did she just leave after Thomas dumped her?

I seem to remember reading something about a subtle sexual subtext to the Myrna/Trey relationship in the beginning but I don't know if that was a writer thing, an actor thing, or fan interpretation. Myrna was undoubtedly devoted to Trey in any case and had a lot riding on his success. A few of the early Carolyn Jones episodes I've seen have featured Myrna's visits to his office at the Capitol. And in that Biograpy clip, we see that Myrna is his escort to Tyler's ceremony.

Yeah, I think Lisbeth "left quietly" or whatever. The episodes I have leave so many blanks in between so I try to piece together by reading the synopses.

Gosh, that stage punch is so awful! Brenda looks so cute eating bon bons and bobbing around on Jordy's water bed. I guess Lisbeth hadn't had a ride on it yet. I *just* noticed that his name is engraved in his comforter. As you can see, Jordy turned the cabana out back into his bachelor pad.

As for Tyler, I know that he and Julie adopted a little girl, Allison, but I don't think he's in most of the later episodes I have with Cat Hickland. I really need to rewatch those tapes, I think I'd have a better understanding of what was going on now.

I think the last Lisbeth episode I have is Sloane and Trey's wedding where Thomas is her date and she and Jordy keep eyeing each other. Of course Thomas ends up with Kelly, Jordy with Leann (before she takes a tumble).

David Mason Daniels was the original Tyler and lasted 3 years -- from 1982 to 1985. He was then replaced by Dane Witherspoon, the original Joe Perkins from Santa Barbara. Witherspoon lasted from 1985 to 1986. I was never impressed with Daniels. His performance was lackluster and overshadowed by the more powerful performances of Bill Beyers and Nicholas Walker.

Carl,

It was actually Matt McCandless who punches Jordy in that clip, not Wally. And the clip ends with Fran and Amy Burke watching the footage on television. I believe Fran owned or worked at some kind of lakeside restaurant. As for Witherspoon, I had stopped watching Capitol by the time he was playing Tyler. I was really into One Life to Live at that point.

I had to laugh at her being cast as a deaf mute. Twice.

I feel like a bit of a jerk for sort of assuming that there wouldn't be much depth here. She has an interesting story. So I guess she was Paris' "grandma" for a little while there. wacko.png

That picture of her in the blue blouse reminds me of this picture of Carolyn:

    • His original motives were unclear and all we knew was that he was working for Iris. But when it was revealed that Evan was Janice's son we found out that he had fallen in with Iris not because he wanted to follow Iris specifically but because he had his own anti-Rachel agenda. Charles Grant had more charisma than the later recast Eric Scott Woods who seemed younger to me.
    • Throwing this out to the universe: finding Elisabeth Shue's episode of As the World Turns (which I guess would have been circa 1983, maybe just before RDJ started watching Search for Tomorrow).

    • I thought today was still good. Leo is always awful, but the characters treating him like he's a plague feeds my soul. Rafe in particular had been very passive about him, but today was wonderful seeing him put Leo on notice. I really think it's being written that Javi is going to have to eventually take the blinders off and see Leo for who he really is. Them having sex on Gabi's desk made me want to explode. Roman taking in stray Doug was nice to see. And the mention of Frankie and Max was unexpected, but good to know they're at least being thought of. Tate being petty and a bit vindictive by going back to Sophia's as soon as he saw Doug with Holly was entertaining for me. I think I actually like Tate the most out of all of them because he's so damn messy.  Is Holly about to be kidnapped? Her first time? Also, Gabi finally revealing what happened with her the night EJ was shot and the clearing of all the other main suspects, but Johnny made this still feel like an important episode. I think Johnny will be cleared soon enough leaving everybody at a loss for the hell shot EJ. How the real shooter will be revealed is going to be interesting.  Speculation: When Kristen finally puts together that her daughter Rachel shot him, she'll agree to frame her mother for the crime, while keeping her hidden away from Salem.
    • That would have saved the Anita singing segment -- having her by herself, singing quietly and reflectively. Belting it out like she was in church did not work. The black screens fade at the end was a mistake. BTG insists on being different with these fades for the sake of being different, and it's not working.   I thought all of that was just fine. Worked for me.   I'm going to disagree with this. Martin hasn't had many scenes with his parents, but he's been around family A LOT -- and that's what matters. We also know Martin is someone with a hair trigger response. He can be very emotional when discussing an issue before getting to the logic and reason of it all.
    • My view of Evan is that he's smart but not as smart as he thinks he is, not a good guy but not an entirely bad guy - he's a lot of things, the show never quite knowing what to do with them. I never saw him as Iris' follower because Iris always seemed a bit in over her head from the start.
    • She was the Town Historian, who knew a bit too much about Brandon and the infamous cottage.  SF was still a pretty normal place at that time, with Nola and Reva being the most outrageous citizens....seems that Carrie Pipper would have stood out a bit more for people.

    • Yes, I need to dot hat. Also on my list talking to the person I got these files from since they clearly have a mess, in terms of dates being wrong. And, unfortunately finding one date wrong, automatically means more are wrong, too.
