August 14, 200817 yr Member They went down, though, in both key demos. From 0.8 to 0.7 in women 18-34, and they lost 19,000 viewers in women 18-49 (although that still keeps them in the range for a 1.2 in that demo). So either they increased in teens or women 50+. Should be interesting to see the HH's. Thanks for the info. It should be interesting. The ones that had a good week were only OLTL and AMC who went up in 18-49 category.
August 14, 200817 yr Member Even a 1.2 is disgustingly low... OLTL tied GH in 18-49!!! Lets see what happends in Total viewers Yes it is very low. Considering GL gets a 0.9 in that demo. So GL isnt too far away from GH or OLTL. I think OLTL went up because the Mendorra story ended that week I believe. I guess fans were relieved it was over...lol
August 14, 200817 yr Member Ooh I see ABC still likes to spin those ratings, huh? spin, spin, spin.....lol
August 14, 200817 yr Member I don't understand why ABC likes to brag about beating GL. I wonder what they think about losing to Y&R & B&B. & sometimes ATWT.Well, maybe because a majority of soap viewers still get Guiding Light at the same time as General Hospital. Ratings suggest the South still has the biggest soap audience of any region, and most of the South still gets GL at 3PM Eastern/2PM Central.

August 15, 200817 yr Member I'll post my weekly ratings analysis when I get the chance to if and when the ratings come out. It looks like things went up big time last week for most soaps, which means a good week. Can't wait to see DAYS ratings next week to see how it did with the Olympics as the lead in since their coverage for those three hours are higher than the Today Show.
August 15, 200817 yr Member GH bragging about 17% more viewers than GL? It seems like GL being so close to GH is the real victory. Let's see -- GL is in crappy time slots in a lot of major markets; has no buzz; limited budget, etc. Interesting. BTW -- The major syndicated daytime programs took a hit from LA EQ coverage last week, so I wouldn't be surprised if Thursday's ratings are down, which is probably enough to bring week down.
August 15, 200817 yr Member I have to say DAYS has been the most watchable now for me than it has been in a while. Loved the Stefano/Marlena confrontation from last week. I don't care if it has been done 10x over, this is familiarity and it is worth watching IMO.
August 15, 200817 yr Member It is really is eye-opening what a small percentage of viewers are in that key demographic. It looks like two out of every three daytime viewers is age 50 or over. It looks like some of the decline in viewing stems from funerals.
