It's not just Aussies.. I've seen recently several examples where Americans online thought Days of Our Lives is not on anymore. But that's not to think they lost track after the show moved to Peacock...

First example, a young American couple who review TV shows on YouTube.. they are currently watching Friends and there is the whole "Drake Ramoray storyline" going on. When they first mentioned Days on Friends, the guy said: "Oh that's a real show from the 80s my Grandma used to watch!" The girl never heard of DAYS and the guy was saying it used to run on tv many years ago and said the show was one for "like 20 years, like Grey's Anatomy".

I told them in the comments that DAYS still exists and that it's on for sixty years.

Second example is a bunch of young guys commenting on music, somehow got to the topic of Days of Our Lives and one of them referred to Marlena being possessed by the devil and wondered if Days was still on or not and if Marlena was still on the show.  I told them yes.

Also I spoke to one British guy recently and mentioned EastEnders to him and he had no idea it was still on, but he also said he never watched it in the first place, so I guess he was avoiding it altogether.

So I think a lot of people are not aware of the soaps anymore. There is so much content elsewhere, so they don't watch daytime. And I guess since soaps are not advertised in primetime anymore (aside from BTG now), someone who doesn't watch daytime would have no clue about what soaps still exist.

Fair point.

Just think that a lot of (mainly younger) people today don't watch TV anymore at either time of the day, hence would not be aware of the existence of soaps.

    • She definitely is her parents' daughter for sure; I've always liked her writing.
    • I don't buy it (forgive the pun). I think all that was true before Xander left the mansion, but now she has a motive to raise the money, and I think she still owns plenty that could be leveraged. I'm really trying to point out, that it seems silly that it is a two-man race, when there are plenty of other rich people in town. Who was worth more, Stefano or Victor?  I would argue the problem with being Stefano's heir is that the estate was divided nine different ways.  Whereas, Victor's fortune was virtually split in half.
    • I can understand the concern, because GH has been bad at playing the aftermath with some of its stories. For instance, in the past 9 months, Sonny killed Jagger in cold blood, and then later in a totally unrelated storyline his penthouse was firebombed, and then more recently someone tried to assassinate him after he was recovering from open-heart surgery. And none of those stories have seen any meaningful follow-up, and not even the characters who are close to Sonny seem remotely curious about figuring them out. By contrast, the Gio umbrella storyline already seems to be impacting characters in a way that could lead to a lot of long-term story. Today, we see how it's bringing Gio and Emma closer, while also putting a big wedge in Lulu and Dante's relationship (potentially sending Lulu in different directions, like possibly pairing her with Cody). I don't know if this storyline will change everything for all of these characters long-term, but it's generating a lot of good story right now, and I can see that story having a lot of ripple effects over the upcoming weeks.
    • Mona actually mentioned meeting Leslie at church, so I think a church set might actually be useful. They could even introduce a recurring character as the main minister/reverend.
    • Kate Hall has written excellent episodes
    • I'm on the Joe Tate storyline, and Kim Tate continues to be a snarky hoot; Emmerdale's answer to General Hospital's Tracy. I love it.
    • I've said that I believe Monica's death will unite everyone back together
    • I was actually cheering Hayley on for once. Dani is beyond pathetic and tiring at this point. I’m so over this weakling that Ted has become. Literally makes no sense not to just show Shanice a picture of Leslie. Literally should’ve been the first thing they did.
    • @Cheap21 You're right! But... Kat is playing the detective, so it is believable for her to make mistakes like this. Fine by me lol.
