It's not just Aussies.. I've seen recently several examples where Americans online thought Days of Our Lives is not on anymore. But that's not to think they lost track after the show moved to Peacock...

First example, a young American couple who review TV shows on YouTube.. they are currently watching Friends and there is the whole "Drake Ramoray storyline" going on. When they first mentioned Days on Friends, the guy said: "Oh that's a real show from the 80s my Grandma used to watch!" The girl never heard of DAYS and the guy was saying it used to run on tv many years ago and said the show was one for "like 20 years, like Grey's Anatomy".

I told them in the comments that DAYS still exists and that it's on for sixty years.

Second example is a bunch of young guys commenting on music, somehow got to the topic of Days of Our Lives and one of them referred to Marlena being possessed by the devil and wondered if Days was still on or not and if Marlena was still on the show.  I told them yes.

Also I spoke to one British guy recently and mentioned EastEnders to him and he had no idea it was still on, but he also said he never watched it in the first place, so I guess he was avoiding it altogether.

So I think a lot of people are not aware of the soaps anymore. There is so much content elsewhere, so they don't watch daytime. And I guess since soaps are not advertised in primetime anymore (aside from BTG now), someone who doesn't watch daytime would have no clue about what soaps still exist.

Fair point.

Just think that a lot of (mainly younger) people today don't watch TV anymore at either time of the day, hence would not be aware of the existence of soaps.

    • Look, I just don’t see GH playing any aftermath here or what the long term value is for either Brook Lynn or Dante as characters. Brook Lynn and Dante have a child, who is technically an adult now - does that change anything about their relationship or create future storylines for them? I don’t see it and it would be pretty ridiculous to do a learning to co-parent storyline for an adult child. The writers wanted an insta-child and they got one, so now what?  I’d also be pleasantly surprised if they do play out any long term ramifications from Gio’s perspective as well.
    • I am fully on the Teslie bus. Nicole is just gonna have to find a new man. Trisha and Keith's chemistry is too good
    • Here's a question for the ages.  After they defeated the mob, together, as a team, why the Quartermaines offer Luke an executive job, and Laura was a receptionist?

    • 100% agree about Giovanni Mazza. I am invested in Dante and especially Lois.  Brook Lynn has always been kind of a nothing character to me.  I don't think any iteration of the character has been stellar.   AL's first run was probably the closest the show got to making Brook Lynn what I thought she'd be as an adult, but she was pushed aside for a lot of other characters even back then. With Rena it's hard for me to say.  I think her only demand was not to be re-paired with Wally and she just rolls with the writing and likes meaty material.   I don't get the sense that Rena is that invested in Lois's character integrity and that's not a dig at her.  She just played the character for a few years in her life and probably isn't as concerned as the actors that have played roles for decades.  I am 100% sure I think about Lois's character trajectory more than Rena does

1995-1996.  She was everywhere lol.  All the stories.
    • Kate Hall has written the last four consecutive scripts. I cannot recall a prior time when the same script writer wrote that many shows in a row.

"Brat" LOL at the way she said that under her breath Huh? Shanice isnt a cop...she's a witness! She is the only person that actually saw Dana as Nurse Lulu and can undeniably confirm that they are one and the same. Mona cant. It makes zero sense to go to Mona about a blurry picture when they can go to the source at the hospital, Shanice
    • Actually IMO Hayley is the loser, and Dani has that trick's # she would use a "pregnancy" to get Bill in deeper

date: Thursday, May 29 | Gregori J. Martin, Judy Tate | Anthony Pascarelli Dani continues to be on top of her game when it comes to her quips towards Bill and the child bride; unlike the earlier episodes, she seems more level-headed and aware. Air conditioner down, Dana? I'd be blasting that A/C! She is beyond delusional and CRAZY! Boundaries? She does not know them. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Katherine should really be pursuing a career as a private investigator because she's got that natural knack for sussing people out and situations out. It's nice to see that the child bride is beginning to play at Dani's level; that's right, honey, you got her man; now you can be her, too. Joey is going to use gambling as an aphrodisiac for Vanessa. I'm calling it. Mona got herself some sass; the stack of people lining up against Dana is becoming stronger and stronger as time goes on. I don't know; Alan sounds like he was a stand-up guy who got sold a bill of false goods by Dana, and then Eva continued to be the innocent in everything. It makes me happy that Ted is standing up, not only for himself but for Nicole, and beginning to take genuine ownership of the breakdown of his marriage. Joey shutting down the usual private room (a.k.a., not a full casino) so he can screw Vanessa on the table is a mood; I'd be down! Well, here comes Dani and her friend, alcohol. Oh, could Doug and Dani commiserate together? Not going to lie, that would be kind of hot! Get it, Vanessa! Yessss! Notes: Karla Mosley (Dani) continues to be with her acting choices today; you can tell she is truly enjoying her scripts and working with Timon Kyle Durrett (Bill) and Marquita Goings (Hayley). It's good to see Goings showing back up to work; it feels like she has been missing since the premiere week of episodes. Keith D. Robinson (Ted) continues to show up and show his work! He's a brilliant recast and truly gives Ted the dynamics the role was previously missing. Glad to see it's continued to be confirmed: the "casino" set is a private room and not the actual casino itself.
    • Charlie's Angel's with a man in the mix. Perhaps all three of them are in the wrong businesses, and should start a PI business together.
