I can see them fighting, although I'd like to see the softer side too, which Bianca rarely has now, sadly. At least Patsy kept up with the show, even though she wasn't fond of it for a while there. Lucy Benjamin has said she hasn't watched in years. I always had a soft spot for Lisa though. I even like Lucy in her old Jupiter Moon episodes. I wonder if anyone's asked her about those days...

I hope they'll do justice to Lisa's return.

I thought Kat and Alfie had a great exit scene too, and it was nice to see Kat get her "happy ending."

After she thought Alfie had left her and gone, for her to be surprised on Christmas day as snow fell and Christmas music playing was a nice touch.

That's a beautiful little scene. A happy Christmas on Eastenders. Like the 2003 one, which also had a beautiful little montage at the end. Kat looked so overjoyed, she could barely contain herself.

Considering what happened to most of the people who were standing outside, no wonder Phil got the hell back in the pub

Here's one of the early Slater scenes. They do the big Nolan Sisters hit. And watch for Janine doing "What I Am" (not too bad). Also early Laura, when she was just starting to be destroyed by Ian. This must have been around the time Ricky Groves and Hannah Waterman were getting together.

That was a great clip, and it especially highlights how different all those Slater sisters were, yet they really came together as a interesting and forceful family unit.

I thought they set up the Zoe is Kat's daughter story very well. It seemed like for months there were little hints, and you always saw Kat, Charlie, Lynne, and big Mo exchanging looks to each other whenever Zoe came up or an argument between Kat and Zoe.

I think Santer tried to do this with Ronnie and Danielle, and it just didn't have the same punch.

They did a wonderful job with setting up the Slaters as very different women, but also believable as sisters.

They also did a good job then of hinting at just what a monster Trevor was. You saw how uneasy Little Mo was but never knew exactly why until bit by bit happened.

It was a copout with Ronnie and Danielle, there were so many contrivances for a big moment which had no payoff. The show mined years of story over Kat and Zoe being mother and daughter. Neither character had "ice cream in the park," or whatever Santer called it, after Zoe learned the truth about Kat. They both continued to have very messed up lives, yet came to love each other as mother and daughter. It was brilliantly done and resulted in that very moving scene where Zoe and Kat said goodbye.

In the two hander episode that happened after the famous "You ain't my mum!" cliffhanger, Zoe attacks Kat's face in the kitchen.

It's somewhere in part two of these clips, which is the entire episode.

Thanks. I'll have to watch those again, it's been ten years now. For some reason I thought Harry died -- I guess I was confusing him with Colin Grimshaw on Corrie. That last scene with Kat and Harry really hits you in the stomach, especially how much he truly believes that she was just some hot thing who wanted him.

I was just reading about the ratings for Doctor Who last night, which keeps getting pushed earlier and earlier down the schedule, thanks in part to those endless Andrew Lloyd Webber shows the BBC keeps burping up. The ratings hit 4.2 or so, which is the lowest ever for the show since 1989. With the hot weather and the upcoming time changes from the World Cup I guess all the soaps are going to start having much more serious slides soon.

I hear EastEnders won't be on for a day or two, and the show always does poorly against the World Cup, as do all of the soaps. There's supposed to be an hour long episode coming up soon too during the World Cup.

I also hear Santer's last full week as sole EP is more horrible than usual. Apparently, the teens are going to the woods during the week of May 31st and they'll dominate that week. It's supposed to be a really boring and bad week, I guess Santer figured it was his last real week, so he put no effort into it.

I know some have said that the other stuff in those episodes will be better, I don't know. It looks like it's going to be more of the Pat/Peggy nonsense and also stuff with Liam, a character who is only interesting because he never takes that damn cap off his head. At least Carol will show up again, briefly.

Santer really did just give up after his beloved Archie story. Or even before the story was finished. I'm still in disbelief that something like Ronnie being raped for years by her own father was treated so cavalierly.

I keep forgetting Billie and Whitney are still on the show. I wonder how much longer they will be...

    • Nick told Victoria that he and Sharon had married in England.  Victoria was shocked.  Then she realized he was kidding.  He confirmed it was a joke and they're platonic. I don't even know what to say about that.
    • It's funny you say that because part of the entertainment of the trials on the show are all the day players who come on as witnesses and jurors.  I'm certain it was like the Law and Order of its time. It employed so many New York actors, that if you look close enough, there's usually someone vaguely recognizable in the courtroom.
    • I will defend Dante.  People already suspect he may be a bit unstable from time to time (from his time as a prisoner).  And, he's taking care of other people's kids from time to time.  So, he has reason to be cautious with those in his care.
    • Josh continues to try and milk Abbott/Newman rivalry. First it was Billy/Victoria, then Kyle/Summer, then Noah/Allie (that worked out well) and now Kyle/Claire. Do we have any inkling when Billy Flynn will arrive and who he will play? I'm sure Cole's illness will mostly play offscreen. What's in store for Nick and Sharon? Is it time to put them back together? I can't see any other romantic options. Nick has no children on the canvas to play off, as Christian is never seen. Sharon has only Mariah onscreen.
    • I would appreciate (if they're not coming), for future scripts to refer to them by their iconic hairdos.  For example, if Hope needs to call Chelsea because Bo has Sepsis, I'd like Shawn-D to say, "My Mom called Chelsea (the one with the sassy short black hair) for an update." Also, new rule, if Melanie does return, she needs to dye her hair back to red.  I googled who she was five times during Victor's funeral.

    • Broderick, thank you for all of the info [I edited for space]. I am so grateful for everyone filling in the blanks for me. I suspected the Nora/Eliot scene was very important and it was setting something up but I didn't know what. Can't wait to see it play out. The two actors had such a great back and forth. I should have made the Paige/Patty Hearst connection. I thought Paige was in love with Brian from the first episode I watched but it seemed as if they were brother and sister. Steve kept being affectionate with her so I assumed he was the love interest. Then she was affectionate with someone else and well..she's a very busy woman. I can't wait to see Frances Fisher show up. (I'm trying to be vague because I don't know what would be a spoiler in this storyline) Now it makes sense why Draper would be upset. I didn't get the whole background of why he didn't go to NY. I'm a sucker for good acting, so I might still side with April and Margo, if the writers don't give Draper more to do besides yelling.  He had more chemistry with Logan, but I know that's not happening.  Something else I noticed: the show really takes care with even the smallest parts. The acting is superb. Too often, I noticed on older soaps they don't take care with the recurring or day players (Ryan's Hope was so bad with this that I couldn't make it through some episodes). It's only been six episodes, but so far, the casting department was spot on.
    • I thought Dante was overreacting.  Gio made some mistakes but he's young and he tried.  It's not like he dragged two 14 years to a party and made them get blackout drunk.  Dante can have the initial upset reaction, but to go on and on was a bit much.
    • His (adoptive) nieces.  Chelsea and Stephanie.  I think Abby was involved too, but I am not sure if they are related lol.
    • That was such a dark story. I never liked Swamp girl after that. And then the dating your cousin thing. I think wasn’t Max in a triangle with two of his cousins?
    • Thank you, @j swift.  I'm probably more sympathetic to Draper Scott than most audience members are -- even though I'm absolutely CRAZY about Ann Williams & her bizarre Margo Huntington character

The more I watch these episodes -- and I've watched several of them a zillion times, I'm ashamed to admit -- you realize there's a WHOLE lot of passive-aggressive hostility brewing inside Margo Huntington about Draper.  She wants to take April AWAY from him and recreate the childhood that she never got to experience with April, because of the adoption 25 years ago.  Draper has sense enough to realize how heartless and vindictive Margo really is about other people's lives and their feelings, but he bites his tongue rather than poison his wife's mind about how horrible her mother really is.  And I admire him for that.  He's a sweet boy.
