Roxy told Ronnie once that she was more like Archie than she thinks she is, and Ronnie got pissed. It's always sort of been in her storylines that Ronnie has inherited a lot of Archie's nasty traits, even though she claims to hate him and claims she's nothing like him.

Ronnie has always been nuts. Poking holes in condoms in an attempt to get pregnant, taking a man away from his family to get pregnant with him and then dumping him when she found out he had a vasectomy, paying Sam to leave town with Jack's baby. She's been mentally ill for years, this baby switch isn't past her. Ronnie wallowing in her self pity and her whole woe is me attitude is grating though.

At the end, I want her to commit suicide. I think that is the natural last step for this character unless she's arrested and thrown in prison before then or sectioned into a nuthouse.

She has to at least attempt ...

She better fear for her life when Kat finds out too. Kat is going to beat her ass down. If she wasn't afraid of going against Trevor for Little Mo, she's going to kill the woman who stole her kid.

Enders baby plot complaints reach 6000

The BBC has now received nearly 6,000 complaints about EastEnders' controversial baby swap storyline, it has been confirmed.

A plot which is currently airing on the Walford show has seen Ronnie Branning lose her newborn son James to cot death, before secretly switching him with Kat Moon's (Jessie Wallace) child in a moment of despair.

BBC News reports that a total of 5,826 complaints have been received by the corporation since the storyline was first announced last November. The number has risen in the past two days as 3,400 complaints had been confirmed on Tuesday.

Although the media regulator Ofcom is known to have also received 374 complaints over the plot, it is understood that an official investigation is unlikely as the episodes in question are not thought to have breached the broadcasting code.

A statement released by the BBC has insisted that "EastEnders has a long history of exploring difficult issues, and the storyline regarding Ronnie and Kat follows in this tradition".

Show bosses have also promised that "viewers will see the situation resolve itself over the coming months".

Meanwhile, EastEnders has today confirmed that Samantha Womack - who plays Ronnie - will be leaving the soap later this year.

I think all this fuss is ridiculous. If you don't like the storyline there's an easy solution, use your remote. It's a wonderful little device to change the channel if you want to.

It's a bandwagon - a mix of those who are genuinely upset about the story, those who haven't really seen it and just assume the worst, those who hate Eastenders, and those who hate Bryan Kirkwood and want him replaced. This type of thing will just have a chilling effect on all the soaps and will ultimately help hasten their decline if too much attention is paid.

John Yorke, controller of BBC Drama added, "Sam is a much loved member of the cast, who has consistently given truthful and brilliant performances as Ronnie Branning. When she leaves at the end of this storyline, she’ll be much missed; and the door will be open for her return."

Damn it, there goes my suicide storyline!

I guess Ronnie will either go to prison or be sectioned into a mental institution.

I hope those who say that this story made Sam quit and how could they not realize might realize now that she was very likely going before this ever started.

They might have had John say that because they know so many have issues with Bryan Kirkwood and they wanted this to seem more official.

It wouldn't surprise me if the baby swap storyline did influence Sam's decision to leave, but I doubt she had problems with it artistically. It's probably more to do with the fact that playing a character like Ronnie is so exhausting and emotional, she probably just want to try other acting projects. I will miss her, because Sam Womack is probably the best actress on the show now that Lacey's gone, and I do think Ronnie's a good character. I am glad that it will bring an end to the Jack/Ronnie pairing, as I've never seen them as a golden couple in the way the show seems to.

Definitely a good time to bring back Sharon now, I wonder if Bryan would prefer to create new characters though, rather than bringing back past ones.

I've heard that this is Kirkwood's first really major plot.

Is this true?
