Members Y&RWorldTurner
The Revealed episodes tend to be narrated by random people, usually former stars of the show. There's never been a standard host. The Heather one was narrated by Josie Long, who has no connection to the show, but is a comedian. Members Y&RWorldTurner
Patsy and Lindsey are taking a 6 month break off the show. I can maybe understand Lindsey, though she hasn't done much since January, but Patsy just came back from a year off. Not that Patsy's ever been loyal to the show anyway... It's probably for the better, as Bianca has been an annoying runt since she got out of prison. Janine is the only character whose extended break will seriously impact the show, as she's become such a vital character. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/tv-film-news/eastenders-patsy-palmer-aka-bianca-786483
Members DRW50
It's kind of funny that this type of thing used to get Letitia Dean negative attention and now it's commonplace. I honestly don't remember this being so common until the last few years.
Members ER Tosh
Hi guys, I have been filling my OLTL void in the last few months with getting into Eastenders. It is interesting how it some ways the show is similar to US soaps (I guess you can say that Phil is like Victor Newman or Sonny) and of course in some major ways it differs. (They hire over 60 year old actress to become cast members for one thing) Do you think most message board using US soaps fans could get into the show if they had a chance or would some of the cultural differences make it kind of hard? Members DRW50
It probably depends on the era of the show. I didn't like Deidrick Santer's era but that might have gotten a lot of attention.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I think it just depends on what types of characters and stories you're looking for. EastEnders, at times, has an amazing ability to reinvent itself through many different eras.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Oh, the episode where Mandy looses poor Rolly and he ends up dead. Sharon blames Grant for it all though... The Greek-looking girl that played Janine is in this episode too. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BQ5MO4AbmwY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/683OFPUiSkc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The follow-up episode ends with the Jazzy version of Julia's Theme in scenes between Ian and Cindy: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8m0K_xCnthM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NaOpgzoVndA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'll always have a soft spot for Nigel. He was one of those loser-type characters down on his luck constantly, but there was a genuine niceness about him that wasn't forced. Members DRW50
I loved Nigel. Patsy speaks. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a376337/eastenders-patsy-palmer-explains-soap-break-its-a-full-on-job.html
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I think Patsy's always been full of crap and has never really been loyal to the show. She's always made it clear she sees it as her meal ticket. She only came back in December, after having a year off, and 5 months later, she's already taking 6 months off. I don't mind it with Charlie or Lindsey, as they've never slanted the show while they were off of it like Patsy did (though Lindsey did say at one point she never saw herself playing Carol again) in the past. They're also not prone to taking back to back breaks.
Members DRW50
I'm surprised she said anything at all. I wonder if they got a lot of criticism over this.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
They've cast Derek's daughter: http://www.digitalsp...hter-alice.html She looks a bit like Martine McCutcheon. She probably would've made a good Courtney Mitchell, looks-wise at least. I was hoping they'd get rid of Derek altogether, Jamie Foreman is atrocious. Members Skylover
Why are you so surprised? He's been a one dimensional character all along!
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Both actor and character are grating my nerves. Part of it may be the writing, but Jamie Foreman is very panto and hammy.
