Members marlenafan
I totally agree! Bring back JER but keep him with a Co HW to make sure we don't get a repeat of the 90s storylines or any storyline on Passions! He is a creative genious when he isn't going insane and dare I say, I have enjoyed his stuff a lot more than any other headwriter. He was his best in the early 90s when the storylines were both character driven as well as plot driven. It was a healthy balance.

Members marlenafan
JER is still on the payroll? How so? Can you explain it to me??? I had no idea....And if that's the case, why aren't they giving him something to do?????

Members marlenafan
That's what I am saying! He had a way of still making you watch even when you felt like through the tv out the door from frustration!! I mean why do people forget that the man has an emmy and was emmy nominated numerous other times? I truly believe that his 2nd turn was a bust because he was writing for Passions and it just took a toll on his DAYS writing. The third times the charm! Members MichaelGL
As a survivor of Dena Higley's reign of terror, twice (Both her tenures on DAYS and on OLTL), I have come to realize something: Everytime she writes for a soap she tries to follow Claire Labine's formula of writing. I've noticed that she always tries to incorporate social issues or some illness storyline into her writing along with the mob. Whenever I think of this, I always think Labine (most notably her tenure on GH). Throw in the fact that she tries to include humor/and or camp in her writing, you've got a poor man's version of Claire Labine's GH.

Members EricMontreal22
Thewre couldbe some truth to that. The way she tackles social issues is always borderline insulting too.
Members Kstaff
I think you pinpointed my feelings about the whole green subject that I couldn't exactly put into words, and this triggered my thoughts about what that whole storyline reminded me of. I just couldn't think of how to phrase it til now. The whole thing reminded me of an ABC Afterschool Special, and made me think that Dena was writing to a bunch of adolescents instead of adults. Yes, I know adolescents watch, but I sincerely doubt they'll sell electricity back to the city. So, I hope this whole autism thing doesn't get preachy and overly condescending with the "it's the parents versus the system" attitude. That's a dangerous attitude. If she has characters start giving advice about this and some parents use a soap to decide the best course of action for their child, I will seriously throw something. IF she writes about the struggles dealing with an autistic child, about seeking professional help and the VARIOUS avenues, and how it can affect the family, then I might go lightly. (This is from a teacher who has worked with austic children)
Members psychofan
I could kiss you for saying that (but I won't!!)! You are so right. Goodness gracious, I wish that JER could write Days for the rest of his life!
Members Shawn
I'd rather see Days dead and gone before JERk brings his hermaphrodite father [!@#$%^&*] serial killer storylines to Salem. The man should do what hes meant to do: Live a recluse for the rest of his pathetic. no talent life.
