I'd like to see him come back as a permanent recast for Ian. The guy playing him now is awful IMO, and doesn't fit the characters description at all. Ethan on the other hand does.

I agree, I think they need to recast Ian too, I am not feeling him at all. We're supposed to believe he's some lady's man, and he really overacts in my opinion.

After they're done using him as temp-Patrick, they should bring him back as Lucky's childhood pal/cousin Sly Eckert. Remember him?

I think he looks a bit like Greg Vaughan and thought he'd make a good Sly recast as well

I thought about how he would be as Ian but the character is a lost cause. He doesnt really have anything going for him which would warrant keeping around. Actor isnt the problem
