March 26, 200818 yr Member Since he took the financial core status, is he done and over with even as far as the other soap operas are concerned? Will anyone hire him again? I believe that even if they do - he will never be head writer again. I've mentioned several times that he reportedly had a primetime show project and I don't know what it was about. However, that will never see the light of day. What do you think? Edited March 26, 200818 yr by Sylph

However, that will never see the light of day. What do you think? I absolutely agree with you, Sylph - except for one thing. ABC *LOVES* their fi-core writers, and even encouraged all of their writers to go fi-core the first week of the strike. I don't think Frons would care at all. But otherwise, yeah - I'm not sure any striking writer will ever hire him.
March 26, 200818 yr Administrator The networks don't really care about writers going Fi-Core or not. If they want to hire Hogan and if Hogan wants to write soaps again, you'll see him back in daytime.

And if you consider that he won't be electable for any award... Why on Earth did he choose to take the financial core status?
March 26, 200818 yr Member Why on Earth did he choose to take the financial core status? To collect the rest of the money in his contract obviously.
March 26, 200818 yr Author Member To collect the rest of the money in his contract obviously. That's just dumb! I can't believe he did it for that reason! P. S. What's with the smiley? Edited March 26, 200818 yr by Sylph
March 26, 200818 yr Member Mr.Sheffer may end up on AMC or GH but his primetime and Flim career is over!
March 26, 200818 yr Member Well... I don't think they want to anger the Guild. And if you consider that he won't be electable for any award... Why on Earth did he choose to take the financial core status? The same can be said for Maria Arena Bell & Josh Griffith and Paula Cwickly (who should be a HW).
March 26, 200818 yr Member I think Hogan knew Corday didn't want him around for much longer, so to screw him over, he went fi-core so he could get the rest of the money from his contract. Hell, I'd do it to spite Corday. Edited March 26, 200818 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
March 26, 200818 yr Author Member The same can be said for Maria Arena Bell & Josh Griffith and Paula Cwickly (who should be a HW). Sorry, I love Maria. So don't touch her! And you can take Paula to be HW at DOOL.

Hell, I'd do it to spite Corday. But that is just dumb! No matter if he took millions, which I doubt, he also screwed himself! More than he did Corday, who will always have the money from DOOL and a percentage from Y&R.
March 26, 200818 yr Member The real question is, why would anyone want him? His tenure at ATWT was mixed at best and his stint at DAYS was a complete disaster. From what I've heard, he's a very talented, smart, witty man. I just don't think he "gets" the soap genre. He's obviously much more tuned to film writing. He's all about plot, plot, plot, ignoring character's histories and not playing out all the beats and repercussions (i.e., character reactions) of his story climaxes, which is what soap opera is all about. I know he loved AMC at one point, and even took on Passanante as ATWT HW after AMC canned her, so I could see him going there. In all honestly, I think he's be worse than Jim & Babs. At least they're making an attempt to revisit the show's history. I have a feeling Hogan would totally reinvent that show. He might be more suited to GH, but does anyone really see Guza getting his walking papers?

In the list of problematic head writers circulating daytime right now, HS isn't exactly the worst offender of any of these crimes. I don't even think he's in the top five.
March 26, 200818 yr Administrator Sheffer and Reilly for AMC's new Head Writers! They can bond over their Corday hate.

Passanante at ATWT probably had just as much to do with P&G enlisting the devil they knew, despite the nails she drove into Another World's coffin.
