Best and Worst Recasts

I have to disagree. Tamara was able to bring sophistication, romance and vulnerability to the role of Carly. She has been the only Carly to bring a sense of maternal feelings to the role and make it believeable. Bruan was excellent and was a strong romantic lead and gave Carly attributes that she needed to make her sympathetic and rootable. She may have been Sonny obsessed, however she was still a likeable heroine who was able to make one bear threw Carly's irrational tendencies and make us understand her outlook and motivations for why she did what she did. Braun was one of the best recasts. Especially considering she came after Brown.

Wow I completely disagree with you. You called TB version of Carly a heroine, and that's exactly why I hated her version of the character. Carly is not supposed to be a heroine. Not at all. She's supposed to be a loud mouth over the top biotch, and IMO TB played her like a self-righteous, stuck up, Sonny obsessed wench. She didn't understand who Carly is IMO. Kinda like how AB is doing with Babe. Playing her exactly the way she shouldn't have.

Wright is arguably one of the WORST recasts ever as she isn't able to invoke any depth into her portrayal of Carly. She turned Carly into an unsympathetic beast of a woman who is loud, shrill, idiotic and unlikeable. She has no level of class in her performence and doesn't even know the definition of the word subtly. She is good awful as Carly and is unable to invoke any sympathetic reaction from the audience because she comes off as a woman hating mysogionist. Good god she is just awful. There is no soul to her. Just this loud, shrieking voice that comes in and out of Sonny and Jason's storylines. She isn't even believable as a mother.

Jennifer Brandsford atleast had the excuse of horrid writing for a psychotic Carly. What's the excuse for Wright?

I disagree, LW is IMO the best Carly recast ever. Your right she does play her loud and shrill, but how the heck is the role supposed to be played? Certainly not the way TB did. And class and Carly do not belong in the same sentence. She is trailer trash to the fullest. And IMO LW does come off sympathetic. Hell she just did on today's episode when Kelly told her she had had a miscarriage. And how do you know the audience doesn't have any sympathetic reaction to her? Did you take a survey or something? And she is most definately beleivable as a mother.

Mary Beth Evans- Kayla-Days- she took over the role from Catherine Mary Stewart

Martha Madison- Belle-Days

Cady McClain- Rosanna- ATWT

Jerry ver Dorn- Clint- OLTL

worst

Amanda Baker- Babe- AMC- I find her annoying and want her to leave already

Amelia Heinle- Victoria- Y&R- I like Heinle and I have seen her in a variety of roles, but she sooooo is wrong for the role of Victoria.

Tamin Sursok- Colleen Carlton- Y&R

Stephanie Cameron- Jennifer Days- She always looked like a deer caught in the headlights

Melody Anderson- Natalie- AMC

Ashley Jones- Bridget- B&B

Kyle Lowder- Rick-B&B

Tracey Melchoir- Kelly, OLTL and Kristen-B&B

Kyle Brandt- Phillip, Days

I guess I just have a completely different view. I liked Tamara's portrayal because it was a believable progression of Carly as a woman rather then as a wacked out teen seeking vengence. I don't see why Carly can't be a heroine. She is one of the shows major protagonists that we as viewers are supposed to sympathsize with. Carly is a major protagonist of this show and has been since she came on. We were supposed to root for her when she got shot by Sonny giving birth to Morgan, we were supposed to root for her when Ric kidnapped her and tried to take her baby, we were supposed to root for her to get her son Micheal back when Faith kidnapped him. Carly was supposed to be a heroine that the average viewer rooted for. Tamara was perhaps the best Carly to achieve that because she was the most believable heroine in the role of Carly. She was able to give Carly nuances that made her smart, elegant, savviness and class. Something that was never done before or after she exited the role.

how the heck is the role supposed to be played? And she is most definately beleivable as a mother.

Carly can be played in various different ways as long as she is portrayed as believable given her past and current situations. Laura Wright has no clue how to portray Carly and focuses much too much on the loud, beasty portrayal of Carly rather then trying to invoke some likeability into the character. She isn't seen as vulnerable, maternal or intelligent. She is just this one noted anger machine who has this self deluded belief that she is better then everyone. She is a one note actress. That's not "the best" at all in my opinon. Wright lacks versatility.

I think that LW & TB both have been great in the role. They played her as she is written. Sarah did the same. Sarah just had MUCH better writing and a better char.

Carly has no layers to her anymore. she is a loud moth annoying jason obsessed shrew. I fault the writers.

I just guess we will have to agree to disagree then. :) But I still think Carly was and is never supposed to be a heroine. And I still think LW gets who Carly really is better than TB did.

The Young & the Restless

Worst

Tammin Sursok as Colleen Carlton

Can i do the honors?

Tammin SurSUCK!

I don't know, Home And Away suited her WAY better. She needs to go back to that show her character was extremely popular on there.

I did hear rumors that she was getting fired from the show on Celebrating the Soaps.

Either bring back Adrienne or let he leave with Korbel.

Speaking of Y&R:

Best:

Judith Chapman as Gloria Fisher

Davetta Sherwood as Lily Winters- OK LML is gone time to bring her back.

Peter Bergman as Jack Abbot

Worst:

Christel Khali as Lily- OK LML ias gone time to kick her out. BTW:she did replaced Todd Bridges niece or something before replacing Davetta.

Amelia Heinle as Victoria Newman-oh, HELL NO!

AMC:

Best:

Eden Regel as St. Bianca Montgomery-although i am SICK of her revolving door act. FREAKING STAY OR GO!

Eden Regel as Kendall Hart acting Bianca on that one episode

Alica Minshew as Kendall Hart

Levin Ramblin as Lily Montgomery-Also Levin Ramblin as Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield on the new edition of Sweet Valley High

Worst:

Amanda Baker as Babe-Has no chemistry with anybody and show take her ass back to Night Shift. I like her better as the Angel of Mercy.

ATWT:

Best:

Mark Collier as Mike Kasnoff-never saw Shawn Christian but i really liked him and Terri's chemistry

Austin Peck as Brad Snyder-who knew the guy can ACT and de-aging the character as actually worked out for the better

Van Hansis as Luke Snyder

Marie Wilson as Meg Snyder- I like Marie give her the right material and she will shine. She did it on Port Charles.

Cady McClain as Rosanna Cabot (prior to the 2007 return)

Worst:

Who ever will replace Martha Byrne as Lily- even if its Robin Christopher, I came to the realization that Martha Byrne is irreplaceable.

Heather Rattray as Lily (see above)

Jeffery Meek as Craig- He just didn't fit the other Craig's

Kelsey Grammer as Lucy (I know her name is Spencer I would also say SideShow Bob's Daughter)

Christina Chambers as Molly Conlan- I want to forget the summer Lesli Kay left ATWT. It was THAT bad.

B&B

Best:

Lesli Kay as Felicia Forrester- I heard she's going to Y&R :(

Heather Tom as Katie Logan- She's better than that annoying girl with the acne problem.

Winsor Harmon as Throne Forrester- GIVE HIM A STORYLINE!!!

Worst:

MacKenzie Mauzy as Phoebe Forrester- She was even a bad recast years earlier for Hayden Panneterrie as Lizzie on GL. Just send her to DAYS...

...speaking of DAYS...

Kyle Lowder as Rick Forrester-GO BACK TO DAYS and bring back Justin Torkildson

Ashley Jones as Bridget Forrester- She runied the character for me. Jennifer Finnegan would never get her mom's leftovers....although Brad Bell screwed us over with the Ridge/ Bridget pairing and ____ us with Part Deux. Still there is something about her that i don't like. Recast her already, I think she told TV Guide she doesn't want to stay in the role. Good!
