March 7, 200818 yr Member That whole candle light dinner, Chris not showing up thing, is a rewrite in and of itself. Erica did the EXACT same thing for David and it didn't trigger any memories. But David showed up, right? I know some people wondered why she all of a sudden had a fear of thunderstorms but that was because, before that scene, she was with someone during a storm. At that scene, she was alone the same way she was alone on the night of the rape.

She was mad, but she wasn't scared or afraid. It's just another example of writers recycling and plugging in things that they think make sense.
March 7, 200818 yr Member I guess being mad took away from being scared...but yea it shows lack of consistency also, I can tell you that post traumatic stress sometimes appears and then it does not. I am sure the same goes for Erica. Some days are trigger days and others they are trigger free. Take it from someone who has PTSD. One of the triggers for mine is police sirens. Sometimes, I get an unsettling feeling when I see them but others I do not. That is the case with Erica and thunderstorms. Edited March 7, 200818 yr by DevotedToAMC
March 7, 200818 yr Member So... What problems exactly do you have with this pitch? Um... the fact that that's not how the rape was written. Eric was indeed there, but he wasn't able to stay because he was called away to the movie studio, so he sent Richard Fields in his place. Erica wasn't sitting there all alone with Eric not showing up, so there shouldn't be any memories triggered by Chris not showing up. Like I said, the pitch itself is fine... it makes sense -- if that's what had actually happened. But it's not. The story was, again, modified to fit that particular story point. Well Alicia Minshaw confirmed that Agnes Nixon was often seen aroudn the studio the first few years of McTavish's return as well... I think she sits in every so often and even now is probably aware of the show but just doesn't have the time, capabilities and position to lead the show like she did. Those Culliton/Agnes clips were from the excellent A&E Biography (remember when they did that show and not jsut bad reality shows?) and I hate to say this but she coulda been there partly to make it look better... I have no comment. La dee da dee daaah (But that's one of the reasons why I kept saying "allegedly") I have to say though, my main complaint about Culliton's period (and I admit all this was made worse because that was the time I was living in Europe and only caught up on AMC every so often) was just how many characters and stories were DROPPED. More than any other period I can think of. I agree... and I was living right here in the States.

Thanks for the clarification! P. S. Has Anderson Park returned? It's March now! Edited March 7, 200818 yr by Sylph
March 7, 200818 yr Member Oh, that! Thanks for the clarification! P. S. Has Anderson Park returned? It's March now! Well... one episode has, so I kept my word. It's my pesky work schedule that's been getting in the way.
March 7, 200818 yr Member Vee I love you but that's COMPLETE conjecture on your part. No, it's not. It was a long time ago, but not conjecture.
